Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance heat-resistance, light-resistance, sublimation speed, hue, ribbon stability, and the like, by using an anthraquinone dye of Cyan shown by a specific formula as a dye for sublimation-transfer recording. CONSTITUTION:An anthraquinone dye for sublimation-transfer recording is synthesized by employing a normal method in which 1,5-dichloro-4,8- dihydroxyanthraquinone as a raw material is condensed with anilines. This anthraquinone dye is shown by a formula I (a benzene nucleus A represents one or more alkyl, alkoxy, hydroxyl, trifluoromethyl, alkoxyalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, carbonyl, carboxy, and phenyl groups, which may be the same or independent). This dye is enhanced in solubility to organic solvent and dispersibility to water and capable of easily preparing a high-density ink.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an image of a sharp yellow color free from fog and good light resistance by incorporating a specified pyridone type dye in a binder resin. CONSTITUTION:The binder resin contains one of the pyridone type dye represented by formula I in which each of R1 and R2 is H, halogen, alkyl, or alkoxy; and R3 is alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, or aralkyl. The addition amount of said dye is controlled in accordance with the electrostatic chargeability of the binder resin, or those of a colorant and additives auxiliary added, compatibility with the resin, dispersion process, and the like, but in general it is preferred to use the dye in an amount of 0.1-10wt.%.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title coloring matter excellent in fastness, giving good dyeability and color developability in carrying out, in particular, recording through sublimation transfer by heating with thermal head, consisting of an anthraquinone-based red coloring matter. CONSTITUTION:The objective anthraquinone-based red coloring matter for heat-sensitive sublimation transfer of the formula (R and R are each H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, or halogen, but when either R or R is H, the other is not H). This coloring matter is incorporated with a resin (e.g. rosin-, phenol-base one) and a solvent (e.g. an alcohol, cellosolve, ketone) to prepare a recording ink, a condenser paper or glassine paper being coated with this ink to form a transfer sheet. The use of this transfer sheet will avoid thermal decomposition during transfer recording, leading to extremely highly reliable record storage because of excellent light resistance of said sheet.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance solubility of a coloring matter in a solvent at the time of preparing an ink and enhance stability of the coloring matter to heat, light, moisture and chemicals, by synthesizing an anthraquinone red coloring matter for thermal sublimation transfer of a specified general formula. CONSTITUTION:1-Amino-2-chloro-4-hydroxyanthraquinone of formula I and a phenol of formula II (R is methyl, methoxyl or a halogen) ere heated in an aprotic polar solvent in the presence of a deoxidizer. By this, a red coloring matter tor thermal sublimation transfer of formula III (R is the same as that in formula II) can be obtained. The coloring matter is highly soluble in solvents, has an excellent property for preparation of an ink therefrom and excellent sublimability, and is free of migration thereof in a substrate or a contaminating property.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable control of the quantity of a coloring matter transferred through sublimation at the time of thermal transfer and facilitate easy gradational recording, by synthesizing a 1,4-diamino-2-phenoxyanthraquinone magenta coloring matter of a specified general formula. CONSTITUTION:1,4-Diemino-2-chloroanthraquinone is brought into reaction with a meta-substd. phenol of formula I (R is an alkyl, alkoxyl, hydroxyl or halogen) in a polar organic solvent, such as sulfolane, in the presence of a base. By the reaction, a magenta coloring matter for thermal sublimation transfer of formula II (R is is the same as that in formula I) can be obtained. A thermal transfer recording ink can be prepared by use of the coloring matter by mixing the coloring matter with an appropriate resin, solvent or the like.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject dye which has a high dichroic ratio and remarkably improved durability, by using an anthraquinone compound of a specified formula. CONSTITUTION:This dichroic dye for liquid crystal display is one represented by the formula (wherein R1 is H, halogen, alkyl or alkoxy and R2 is alkyl, aryl or aralkyl), e.g., 1-amino-2(decahydro-2-naphthyloxy) carbonyl-4(4-n- butoxyphenyl)thioanthraquinone. Conventional dichroic dye having a high dichroic ratio has poor durability while that having excellent durability does not have dichroism sufficient for realizing practically clear display. The introduction of an ester group containing a decahydonaphthyl group into an anthraquinone skeleton at its position 2 as shown in the above-mentioned formula can raise the dichroic ratio and remarkably improve the durability of dye.
