    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyimide having excellent heat-resistant stability, maintaining the stability for many hours by blocking molecular ends of a polymer molecule with a dicarboxylic acid anhydride containing a specific repeating structural unit. CONSTITUTION:A polyimide having a structural unit shown by formula II wherein molecular ends of a polymer molecule are sealed with a dicarboxylic acid anhydride shown by formula I (Z is bifunctional group selected from 6-15C monocyclic aromatic residue which does not substantially contain substituent group or is replaced with a group having no reactivity with amine or dicarboxylic acid anhydride, condensed polycyclic aromatic residue and noncondensed polycyclic aromatic group wherein aromatic groups are directly connected or mutually bonded through crosslinking member). The polyimide is obtained by reacting a diamine compound shown by formula III with 0.9-1.0mol based on 1mol diamine compound of a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride shown by formula IV in the presence of 0.001-1.0mol based on 1mol diamine compound of a dicarboxylic acid anhydride shown by formula I.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strengths, dimensional stability, heat resistance, and processability, and reduce water absorption by polycondensing a specific diamine with an arom. dicarboxylic acid dihalide in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent. CONSTITUTION:A diamine component comprising 6,6'-bis(4- aminophenoxy)-3,3,3',3'-tetramethyl-1,1'-spiroinadane and/or 6,6-bis(3- aminophenoxy)-3,3,3',3'-tetramethyl-1,1'-spiroindane of formula I is polycondensed with an arom. dicarboxylic acid dihalide in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent in an org. solvent at 60 deg.C or lower to give an arom. polyamide of formula II [wherein X is a condensed polycyclic arom. group or a group of formula III {wherein Y is a direct bond, -O-, -S-, -SO2-, -CH2-, -C(CH3)2-, or -C(CF3)2-; R is 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, or phenyl; a is 0-2; and b is 0-4}; and n is 1-1000].

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the title compsn. having low water absorptivity and giving a cured article excellent in mechanical strengths (esp. impact strength) and toughness by preparing a prepolymer by thermally reacting a specific bismaleimide compd. with a specific diamine compd. CONSTITUTION:The title compsn. is prepd. by preparing a prepolymer by thermally reacting a bismaleimide compd. of formula I (wherein R is H or CH3) with a diamine comb. of formula II (wherein X is a 1-10C divalent hydrocarbon group, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio, sulfinyl, sulfonyl, oxo, or a group of formula III or IV; and Y is a direct bond, a 1-10C divalent hydrocarbon group, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio, sulfonyl, or oxo) (e.g. 4,4'-diaminodithenylmethane) in the absence or presence of an org. solvent at 70-220 deg.C. The compsn. has low water absorptivity and good storage stability and gives a cured article excellent in mechanical strengths (esp. impact strength) and toughness.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain polyimide having excellent moldability even after being kept at high temperatures for a long time without detriment to the excellent properties inherent in polyimide by reacting a specified diamine with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride in the presence of a specified monoamine. CONSTITUTION:A component (i) is reacted with a component (ii) in the presence of a component (iii) in the production of a polyimide via a polyamic acid to form a polyimide having a basic skeleton comprising repeating units of formula III (wherein R is the same as that of formula II). Component (i): a diamine of formula I; component (ii): a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride of formula II (wherein R is a tetravalent group selected from among a 2C or higher aliphatic group, a cycloaliphatic group, a monocyclic aromatic group, a condensed polycyclic aromatic group and a noncondensed polycyclic aromatic group consisting of aromatic groups bonded together directly or through bridging members; and component (iii): aliphatic and/or aromatic monoamines of the formula: Z-NH2 (wherein Z is a 1-10C aliphatic group and/or a cycloaliphatic group). The proportions of components (i), (ii) and (iii) are such that 0.9-1.0mol of component (i) and 0.001-1.0mol of component (iii) are present per mol of component (ii).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a thermally stable polyimide with an excellent moldability by reacting a specific diamine with a specific tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride in the presence of a specific acid anhydride and then imidating the resulting polyamic acid. CONSTITUTION:A diamine (A) comprising bis(3-aminophenyl) sulfone of formula I is reacted with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (B) of formula II (wherein R is a tetravalent 2C or higher aliph., cycloaliph., monocyclic arom., or condensed polycyclic arom. group) in the presence of a dicarboxylic acid anhydride (C) of formula III (wherein Z is a monocyclic arom., condensed polycyclic arom. group, etc.) in the molar ratio of A:B:C of 1.0:0.9-1.0:0.001-1.0 to give a polyamic acid, which is thermally or chemically imidated to give a thermally stable polyimide with an excellent moldability and with a backbone structure consisting of repeating units of formula IV (wherein R is the same as above).
