Abstract: In the present invention, there is disclosed a cigarette (23) comprising a tobacco rod (60) having filled and unfilled portions arranged so that electrical heater elements (31) may overlap both portions. The tobacco rod (60) includes a tubular tobacco web. The web is constructed by converting tobacco feedstock into a continuous sheet of tobacco web and converting the continuous sheet of tobacco web into one or ore bobbins of tobacco web suitable for automated manufacture of cigarettes (23). A cigarette (23) heater (39) comprises supporting blades (37) being heated by a resistive heating circuit and thus heating the inserted cigarette (23).

A heater (25) comprises a supporting hub and electrically resistive heater blades (37) defining a receptacle (27) for an inserted cigarette (23). Each blade comprises first and second heater blade legs each having a first end and a second end, and a connecting section connecting the second end of the first leg and the first end of the second leg. The blades (37) are heated by a resistive heating circuit and heat the inserted cigarette (23). The legs are separated by a gap to permit entrainment of flavour substances upon drawing.

The electrical conductor is connected to the negative terminal of a power source. The other end of all the heaters are adapted to be connected to the positive terminal of the source. Accordingly, an electrically resistive heating circuit is formed wherein the tube serves as a common for all of the heating elements. The tubular heater can comprise an exposed end hub with a plurality of blades extending therefrom. Each blade can have an individual heater deposited thereon. Alternatively, every other blade can have a heater deposited thereon. The blades having no heater function as barriers to minimize outward escape of generated vapors. These barrier blades also function as heat sinks for the heaters on adjacent blades.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cigarette designed for an electric system of smoking, to the tobacco core of this cigarette and to a heater for the system of smoking. They improve the safety in operation of the electric system for smoking. The cigarette (23) comprises a tobacco stick with a filled and non-filled part with/without tobacco, including a tubular tobacco core. The core is prepared by a method in two basic stages - conversion of the raw tobacco into a continuous layer and converting the continuous layer into one of more bobbins of tobacco core, suitable for automated cigarette production. The heater contains a supporting bushing and electric resistant wire plates, forming a receiving seat for the introduced cigarette (23). Each heating plate includes first and second heating plate leg and a connecting section, interconnecting them. The legs are separated by a clearance in order to extract aromatic substances from the tobacco in inhaling. In use, the cigarette (23) is introduced into a lighter (25) of a system for smoking (21) wherein the electric heater plates of the heater are fitted around the tobacco stick, overlapping zones of the filled and non-filled with tobacco part of the cigarette (23). 68 claims, 23 figures

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for cleaning an electrical lighter are provided. A sleeve, e.g., ceramic or metal, surrounds the heater fixture, and a resistive heating element is in thermal proximity with the sleeve. The resistive heating element is either a dedicated element or the cigarette heating elements. The sleeve serves as a aerosol barrier and condensate accumulator to protect other components. Periodically, e.g., substantially contemporaneously with a battery recharge, the heating element is activated to thermally liberate condensates deposited on the sleeve during smoking and also heats, and thereby cleans, other components. Also, a cleaning element is optionally inserted into the cigarette receptacle of the electrical lighter or placed at the exit thereof to absorb, attract and/or catalytically break down the thermally liberated condensates. The sleeve also directs a desired flow path for drawn air within an electrical lighter toward the cigarette.
