Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed relating to communications. The systems and techniques include an input device, generating a time period in response to a broadcast channel selection from the input device, generating a request to register the broadcast channel if the time period ends before receiving a second broadcast channel selection, and transmitting the request to an access network. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or the meaning of the claims.

Abstract: A method and apparatus provide for scheduling reverse link transmission for a mobile station in a timely manner. A base station (101) may transmit on a forward link high rate channel and a forward link low rate channel to a mobile station during a common time slot. The high rate and low rate channels may be respectively the F-PDCH and the F-PDCCH. The base station may transmit a reverse link transmission scheduling information on the low rate channel. The mobile station may schedule transmission on the reverse link channel, such as R-SCH, based on the data received on the low rate channel. Since the low rate channel has only scheduling data (16 bits) and the high rate channel may have no data (null data) at all, the base station may decide to transmit the reverse link scheduling information to the mobile station very quickly on the forward link.

Abstract: A method of creating a path list for use in finger assignments comprising clearing a list of paths (12), choosing a sector for consideration from an active set of sectors (14), establishing a searcher window around the sector for cosideration (16), and determining up to "n" local maxima stronger than a threshold value (18). If a sector under consideration is transmitting on supplemental channels(19), the method involves artificially biasing the findings of the searcher window by a predetermined value (20). The biasing value may be constant, variable or proportional to the number of supplemental channels on the base station. After the local maxima corresponding to base stations transmitting on supplemental channels have been biased (20), the path lists are created (21).

Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating an autonomous Pilot Strength Measurement Message (PSMM) by a mobile station traveling in a multi-carrier wireless communication system. In a multi-carrier system, the mobile station receives the pilot channel of a base station on multiple carrier frequencies simultaneously. Fading may vary from carrier frequency to carrier frequency. New pilot strength definitions are used by the mobile station in a set of rules transmitted by the base station. The set of rules determines autonomous generation and transmission of PSMMs by the mobile station upon detection of pilots.

Abstract: Un procedimiento para generar un mensaje de medición de intensidad piloto, PSMM, autónomo por una estación (10) móvil, que comprende las etapas de: recibir (210) una pluralidad de pilotos en la estación (10) móvil, en el que la estación (10) móvil está en un sistema de comunicación inalámbrica de múltiples portadoras con múltiples frecuencias de portadora para la pluralidad de pilotos, y en el que la pluralidad de pilotos se transmiten desde una única estación (12) base; usar una primera definición de intensidad piloto a partir de un conjunto de definiciones de intensidad piloto para determinar una intensidad piloto asociada con al menos uno de la pluralidad de pilotos, en el que las definiciones de intensidad piloto se basan en la relación Ec/Io de una energía piloto por elemento de código (Ec) respecto a la densidad espectral recibida total de ruido y señales Io; comprobar (240) un conjunto de reglas, en el que el conjunto de reglas es para generar el PSMM manipulando la primera definición de intensidad piloto; generar (250) el PSMM para su transmisión desde la estación (10) móvil; y en el que la etapa de comprobar el conjunto de reglas comprende las etapas de: determinar si cada miembro de la pluralidad de pilotos tiene una intensidad piloto que es mayor que un umbral predeterminado; determinar si cada piloto en un conjunto de candidatos está asociado con una intensidad piloto que supera la intensidad piloto de todos los pilotos en un conjunto activo mediante una cantidad umbral de comparación; y determinar si un temporizador de caída de traspaso del conjunto activo ha expirado.
