    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for improving UL-based mobility. As described herein, a UE may determine it has failed to decode a first keep alive (KA) signal during a wake period of a discontinuous receive (DRx) cycle and may extend the wake period to monitor for a second KA signal, in response to the determination. An access network controller may select, while a (UE) is currently served by a first transmit/receive point (TRP), a second TRP to serve the UE, configure the first TRP to transmit a first keep alive (KA) signal, in response to a chirp signal received from the UE, and configure the second TRP to transmit a second KA signal after the first KA signal transmitted by the first TRP.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. One example method for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE) includes detecting a radio link failure (RLF) condition for a connection between the UE and a network over a first cell group and determining, in response to detecting the RLF condition, whether an air interface resource allocation is available for a signaling radio bearer (SRB) between the UE and the network over another cell group. The method also includes selecting, based at least in part on the determination, one of a plurality of RLF procedures. In some examples, the UE may select a first RLF procedure that fully releases radio resources when no SRB is available and a different, second RLF procedure that partially when an SRB is available between the UE and the network over a second cell group.

    Abstract: A system and method for mobility tracking of user equipment in a network includes a user equipment. The user equipment includes an antenna for receiving and sending signals to a plurality of network nodes in a network and a processor coupled to the antenna. The processor is configured to broadcast, using the antenna, a pilot signal to advertise the user equipment, receive, using the antenna, a pilot response from a first network node acting as a serving node for the user equipment, and communicate with the network through the serving node. The pilot signal includes a reference sequence for the network nodes to track followed by a payload including information about an identity of the user equipment. In some embodiments, the reference sequence varies based on a state of the user equipment. In some embodiments, the reference sequence is randomly selected.
