Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and system for measuring amount of intake air are provided to measure amount of intake air for each of cylinders using ideal gas equation. CONSTITUTION: A system includes a crank angle sensor(110) detecting rotating position of a crank shaft; a pressure detective device(120) installed in a cylinder to measure pressure in the cylinder; and a calculating part(130) receiving detected values from the crank angle sensor and the pressure detective device and executing a method for measuring intake air to calculate amount of intake air. The method includes the steps of: an initial value setting step setting initial values of pressure, volume and temperature in a cylinder on starting point of an intake stroke and setting initial value of mass of air based on the initial values by the ideal gas equation; a mass fluctuation calculating step repeatedly calculating fluctuation of mass of air between neighboring crank angles until completion of the intake stroke assuming intake process as a polytropic process; and a total intake air amount calculating step calculating mass of all of intake air flowing in during the intake stroke.
