Propylene-ethylene copolymers are flexible and show a very good balance between softness and mechanical properties in their crude state are obtained by solution polymerization in the presence of Ziegler-Natta catalysts. The said copolymers comprise from 10 to 50%wt of ethylene and are characterized by: product of the comonomer reactivity ratio r1•r2 ≤1.5; absence of 2,1 propylene insertions and tensile strength at break higher than 4 Mpa.

A process for preparing crystalline ethylene (co)polymers comprising (co)polymerizing ethylene in the presence of carried out in the presence catalyst system comprising (a) a solid catalyst component comprising Ti, Mg, halogen, ORI groups, where RI is a C1-C12 hydrocarbon group optionally containing heteroatoms, having ORI/Ti molar ratio of at least 0.5, an amount of titanium, with respect to the total weight of said solid catalyst component, higher than 4% by weight, and showing a specific pattern of the SS-NMR; and (b) an aluminum alkyl compound as a cocatalyst. The process allows to obtain in good yelds ethylene polymers with narrow MWD.

Catalysts components for the polymerization of ethylene comprising Ti, Mg, halogen, OR I groups, where R I is a C1-C12 hydrocarbon group optionally containing heteroatoms, having specific relationship among OR I /Ti and Mg/Ti molar ratio and characterized by a specific SS-NMR pattern are particularly useful for preparing narrow MWD crystalline ethylene polymers.

The present invention relates to a solid catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins CH 2 =CHR in which R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical with 1-12 carbon atoms, comprising Mg, Ti, halogen and an electron donor selected from y-butyrolactone derivatives of a particular formula. Said catalyst components, when used in the polymerization of olefins and in particular of propylene, are capable to give polymers in high yields and with high isotactic index expressed in terms of high xylene insolubility.

A solid catalyst component comprising Ti, Mg, chlorine and an internal donor selected from esters of aliphatic monocarboxylic acids (EAA) and another internal donor selected from cyclic ethers (CE) such as the EAA/CE molar ratio ranges from 0.2 to less than 20. The so obtained catalyst component when converted into a catalyst is able to produce ethylene polymers with good morphological properties even under drastic polymerization conditions.
