Abstract: The method involves impregnating a veneer with an aqueous setting composition with at least one interlaceable urea compound with at least one N-bound group of the formula CH2OR with R standing for hydrogen or C1-C4alkyl and/or a 1,2 Bishydroxethane-1,2-diyl group bridging the two nitrogen atoms of the urea and at least one catalyzing substance, pressing the impregnated veneer at high temperature, gluing the pressed veneer and/or a support and sticking the glued veneer to a support or further veneer layer to the timber. An independent claim is also included for a wooden material manufactured by the inventive method.

Then method involves treating the obtained material at an elevated temperature and, optionally, transforming said material into a wood material and treating at least one surface of the wood or wood material to be treated with a surface treatment agent and, optionally, drying the treated surface in a manner known per se. An independent claim is also included for the surface treatment.
