Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a radiation-curative compound having an improved curing rate and giving a cured product having improved hardness, flexibility and weatherability by including a specified aliphatic urethane-functional prepolymer, a monofunctional ester of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid with a monofunctional alkanol and di- or poly-functional ester of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid with an aliphatic diol or polyol. SOLUTION: This compound is prepared by mixing 20-90 wt.%, particularly, 30-80 wt.% aliphatic urethane-functional prepolymer having at least two ethylenic unsaturations on the average per molecule with 10-80 wt.%, particularly, 20-60 wt.% monofunctional ester of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid with a monofunctional alkanol having as a structural element at least one saturated five- or six-membered carboxylic ring or a saturated five- or six-membered heterocyclic ring having 1 or 2 ring oxygen atoms and, optionally, 0-40 wt.%, particularly 0-30 wt.% di- or poly-functional ester of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid with an aliphatic di- or polyol.

SOLUTION: A component A comprises at least one trifunctional isocyanate compound A1 and optionally one or more bifunctional isocyanate compound A2. An OH-containing component B is composed of at least one OH-containing compound B1 containing at least one reactive OH group and optionally a different OH-containing compound B2. In the production, the component A consists of the two different isocyanate compounds A1 or one isocyanate compound A1 and at least one isocyanate compound A1 or the component B is composed of at least the two different compounds B1.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hardenable polyurethane polymer capable of providing an unhardened and dried coating film hardenable by radiation and having a good pendulum hardness, a high hardness and scratch resistance, and further capable of providing a hardened film having a high hardness and good flexibility by including a specific hydroxy-containing prepolymer in a specified proportion in a copolymerized state. SOLUTION: This hardenable polyurethane polymer comprises (A) 40-80 wt.% one or more kinds of OH group-containing prepolymers having one or more radically or photochemically polymerizable α,β-ethylenically unsaturated double bonds (based on the whole weight), (B) 0.1-20 wt.% one or more kinds of compounds having one or more isocyanate-reactive OH groups and/or primary or secondary amino groups, and further one or more polar functional groups, (C) 0.1-10 wt.% compound selected from a diamine, a polyamine and a mixture thereof, and (D) 10-50 wt.% one or more kinds of polyisocyanates in a copolymerized state. The OH value of the components A to C is 121-300 mg- KOH/g.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating material radiation-curable on substrates such as metal, leather and wood by mixing a water-dispersible polymer and a water- soluble compound each of which is radiation-curable and having α,β-ethylenic unsaturations with water in a specified ratio. SOLUTION: 5.0-90.0 wt.% water-dispersible polymer being radiation- polymerizable and having at least one α,β-ethylenic unsaturation (e.g. ester of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid with a hydroxyl- containing polycondensate) is mixed with 0.1-90 wt.% compound (e.g. aliphatic epoxide acrylate) being radiation-polymerizable, having at least one α,β-ethylenic unsaturtion and being water-soluble or capable of being diluted with at least 10 wt.%, based on the total weight of the material, water, at most 20 wt.% arbitrary photoinitiator, at most 60 wt.% filler, at most 20 wt.% additive and water. Thus, a high-solid-content coating material which requires no physical drying after application can be obtained.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coated product not generating while powder (ausbluehens) and not changing its strength and visual appearance with water by coating a molded product with a radiation-curable prepared product containing a polymer having ethylenic unsaturated double bonds and subsequently curing the coated product by the irradiation of UV light or electron beams. SOLUTION: The content of ethylenic unsaturated double bonds is usually 0.01-1.0 mole/100 g of polymer. The ethylenic unsaturated double bond is preferably a group of the formula: P-Z-X-CR =CHR [X is a single bond, CH2 or CO; Z is a single bond, O or NH; P is a 2-10C organic group or a single bond; R is H or methyl group; R is H, methyl group, phenyl group when X is CO or CO2 Y (Y is H or a 1-4C alkyl group)]. Silicones, polyurethanes, polyesters, polyethers, epoxy resins, melamine resins and methacrylate ester copolymers which have ethylenic unsaturated groups, respectively, are important as the polymer.

Abstract: The method involves impregnating wood, wood material or a material for manufacturing a wood material with a hardenable aqueous composition, which contains at least one cross-linkable compound, selected from low-molecular weight compounds V, having at least two N-bonded groups of formula CH 2OH, where R = hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl, or one 1,2-bishydroxyethan-1,2-diyl group, bridging two nitrogen atoms. The method then involves precondensates of the compound V and reaction products or mixtures of the compound V with at least one alcohol, selected from C1-C6 alkanols, C2-C6 polyols and oligoalkylene glycols. Then method involves treating the obtained material at an elevated temperature and, optionally, transforming said material into a wood material and treating at least one surface of the wood or wood material to be treated with a surface treatment agent and, optionally, drying the treated surface in a manner known per se. An independent claim is also included for the surface treatment.

A curable polyurethane polymer (I) comprises: (A) 10-60 wt.% of a hydroxyl group containing prepolymer having at least a thermally or photochemically polymerizable alpha , beta -ethylenically unsaturated double bond (B) 0.1-30 wt.% of a compound having a hydroxyl group and/or prim. or sec. amine group that is reactive towards an isocyanate group and having at least one polar functional group per molecule; (C) 0.1-30 wt.% of a diamine and/or polyamine; (D) 0-10 wt.% of a compound, different to (A), (B), (C) and (E) having at least 2 isocyanate reactive groups and containing hydroxyl and/or prim. and/or sec. amine groups; (E) 0-20 wt.% of a compound having one isocyanate reactive group; (F) 10-65 wt.% of a compound having at least 2 isocyanate groups and/or their salts whereby the ratio of isocyanate group equivalents in (F) to isocyanate reactive groups is (A)-(E) is 0.4:1-0.9:1. Independent claims are included for: (i) a polymer dispersion containing (I); and (ii) a coating agent containing (I).
