Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation-sensitive and refractive-index variable composition capable of varying the refractive-index of a material by a simple method, forming a thick film, imparting a sufficient large value of a varied refractive- index difference and affording a stable refractive-index pattern or an optical material without relying on service conditions thereafter. SOLUTION: The radiation-sensitive and refractive-index variable composition comprises (A) a degradable compound, (B) a nondegradable compound selected from the group consisting of a ladder type polysilsesquioxane, its hydrolyzate and a condensate thereof and having a lower refractive-index than that of the degradable compound (A), (C) a radiation-sensitive degrading agent and (D) a stabilizer. The components (C) and (A) in a part exposed to radiation are degraded to cause a difference between the part exposed to the radiation and a part unexposed to the radiation in the refractive index by exposing the composition through a pattern mask to the radiation. Thereby, the pattern having the different refractive-index is formed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal orienting agent, in which orientation ability of a liquid crystal molecule is surely imparted by rubbing treatment, capable of providing a liquid crystal orienting film having excellent liquid crystal orientation property by including polyamic acid and/or polyimide and a specific compound. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal orienting agent is obtained by including (A) 0.1-20 wt.% (i) polyamic acid and/or (ii) polyimide, preferably having 0.05-10 dl/g intrinsic viscosity and (B) 0.01-1 wt.% compound of the formula [R is H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon having (n) valence; (n) is >=1; when R is H, (n) is 1]. The component (i) is prepared by reacting a tetracarboxylic dianhydride with a diamine compound. The component (ii) is prepared by a method heating, e.g. the component (i) to carry out cyclodehydration, or the like. The component B includes water, methanol, ethanol, butanediol or ethylene glycol.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which is excellent in dispersion stability of an inorganic pigment and in storing stability by blending an inorganic pigment, a binder resin and a fatty acid. SOLUTION: As an inorganic pigment, a red pigment such as Fe2 O3 or the like, a green pigment such as Cr2 O3 or the like, and a blue pigment such as 2(Al2 Na2 Si3 O10 ).Na2 S4 or the like can be used in addition to an inorganic pigment for color correction like a yellow pigment such as PbCrO4 -PbSO4 or the like, an orange pigment such as Pb(Cr-Mo-S)O4 and a purple pigment such as Co3 (PO4 )2 or the like. As a binder resin, although various resins can be used, an acrylic resin is desirable. As the acrylic resin, a copolymer of a monomer (e.g. acrylic acid) and another monomer (e.g. methyl acrylate) or the like is desirable. The composition ratio is 1-50 pts.wt. of the resin to 100 pts.wt. of the inorganic pigment. As a fatty acid, one with 8-30 carbon atoms such as octanoic acid is desirable. The formulation ratio is 0.001-10 pts.wt. of the fatty acid to 100 pts.wt. of the inorganic pigment.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently manufacture a highly precise pattern with sharp edges by forming at least one of electrodes, resistors, phosphors, color filters, and a black matrix by using an inorganic-powder-disposed paste layer formed on a supporting film. SOLUTION: An inorganic powder dispersed paste layer is not formed directly applying to a substrate having toughness but is formed by applying to a supporting film having flexibility to using a roll coater. Consequently, an inorganic powder dispersed paste layer with thick and even thickness, for example 10 μm ± 1 μm, can be formed on a supporting film. The inorganic-powder- dispersed paste layer formed in such a manner is collectively transferred to the surface of a substrate by a simple operation to reliably form the inorganic powder dispersed paste layer on a substrate. Especially, a highly precise pattern can be obtained by multi-laying the inorganic powder dispersed paste layers.
