    Abstract: A bleaching composition which may serve as a detergent comprises hydrogen peroxide or a peroxide forming hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous solution and a cationic compound having the formula (I) in which R1, R2 and R3 are each an alkyl, alkenyl or alkaryl group, R4 is an alkylene, cycloalkylene, phenylene or alkylene phenylene group, X is an organic or inorganic paired ion, L is readily split from the rest of the compound to form an active cationic bleaching agent. The compound (I) is sufficiently crystalline to be stable in storage.
