    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a camera lens barrel which has good moldability, excellent mechanical characteristics, such as strength and excellent dimensional accuracy, such as circularity of molded products, and is made of a lightweight resin by molding camera lens barrel bodies with the liquid crystalline resins. SOLUTION: A first lens group 2 is fixed to a focusing lens barrel 1 and is screwed to the screw threads of a lens barrel body 3. A cam frame 4 is freely turnably fitted to the inner side of the lens barrel body 3. A rear lens barrel 11 is connected to the lens barrel body 3 to fix a third lens group 12. The focusing lens barrel 1, the lens barrel body 3, the rear lens barrel 11 and the cam frame 4 respectively correspond to the camera lens barrel. These camera lens barrel bodies are molded of liquid crystalline resins. The liquid crystalline resins are resins which can form an anisotropic molten phase in melting and are preferably polyester and/or polyester amide and are further preferably selected from fully arom. liquid crystalline polyester, fully arom. liquid crystalline polyester amide, etc.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition having high frame-retardancy and causing little bleed-out of the flame-retardant and lowering of the deflection temperature under load caused by the flame-retardant by adding a phosphorus- containing phenolic resin in combination with a specific compound to a thermoplastic resin. SOLUTION: This composition is produced by compounding (A) 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin (preferably a polyester resin) with (B) 1-100 pts.wt. of a phosphorus-containing phenolic resin and (C) 1-100 pts.wt. of a cyanuric acid salt or an isocyanuric acid salt of a triazine compound (preferably melamine, benzoguanamine or acetoguanamine). The component B is preferably a phenolic resin composed of the unit of formula I or formula II (R and R are each H or a 1-5C alkyl; (x) and (y) are each mol% of each of the unit of formula I and formula II in the polymer and x+y is 100). The resin can be produced e.g. by adding a phosphoric acid ester monohalide to a phenolic resin and subjecting the mixture to dehydrohalogenation reaction. The composition is preferably further incorporated with a non-halogenic flame-retardant to improve the flame-retardancy.

SOLUTION: This molded hook is made of a liquid crystal composition produced by compounding 100 pts.wt. of a liquid crystal resin with 0-400 pts.wt. of a filler and is composed of main body-supporting parts 2, 2' to suspend or hold a main body and a suspension part 3 to suspend another article. The equivalent diameter D of the narrowest part of the suspension part 3 of the molded article is =10 (L is the maximum length of the molded article) and the suspension part 3 is free from molding weld line.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition excellent in flame retardancy, impact resistance and heat resistance, hardly causing bleedout of flame retardant and useful for electrical equipment parts for connectors, relays, etc., and parts, etc., for automobiles by adding a specific amount of a specific polyphosphate to a thermoplastic resin.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyphosphate having a specified repeating unit for an incombustible material or a flame retardant which has high mol.wt. and excellent flame retardancy, heat stability, and moldability. SOLUTION: This polyphosphte comprises a repeating unit represented by formula I (wherein R represents H or a 1-5C alkyl; Ar represents phenyl or phenyl substd. by a halogen-free org. residue), has an no. average mol.wt. of not less than 10,000, and a solubility (20 deg.C) in at least one org. solvent selected from among acetone, chloroform, dimethylformamide, tetrahydrofuran and the like of not less than 90wt.%. This compd. may be synthesized as follows. A phosphorus compd. represented by formula II (wherein X represents a halogen; and R represents H or a 1-5C alkyl) and an arom. biphenyl represented by formula III (wherein Ar represents phenyl or phenyl substd. by a halogen-free org. residue) are heated at 100 to 250 deg.C in a first stage of polymn. and heated under reduced pressure at a temp. of 250 deg.C or below in a second stage of polymn.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a molded item with excellent physical properties and a low anisotropy by sequentially and continuously feeding a liq.-crystalline polyester resin comprising specific four kinds of structural units and specific glass fibers into an extruder, melt mixing them, and molding the resulting compsn. CONSTITUTION: The compsn. is prepd. by filling a liq.-crystalline polyester resin comprising structural units represented by formulas I, II, III, and IV (wherein R1 and R2 are each a group of formula V or V1, etc.) with glass fibers having an average diameter of 3-15μm, an number average length of 0.12-0.25mm, and a wt. average length of 0.25-0.6mm. Pref., structural unit I is derived from p-hydroxybenzoic acid; structural unit II, from dihydroxybiphenyl; structural unit III, from 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalene; and structural unit IV, from terephthalic acid. Pref., the molar ratio of the sum of structural units I and II to structural unit III is (60:40)-(95:5). The resin and the glass fibers are melt mixed with a twin-screw extruder and are fed sequentially and continuously in the oder of the resin and the glass fibers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve the color tone, mechanical properties and appearance of a molding by using a p-hydroxybenzpoic acid of a specified bulk density in loosened state for producing a specified liquid-crystal polyester or polyester- amide resin. CONSTITUTION: A p-hydroxybenzoic acid with a bulk density in loosened state of 0.30-0.57g/cm and a weight-mean particle diameter of 0.17-2mm is used for producing a liquid-crystal polyester(-amide) resin consisting essentially of the structural units of the formula. The production process follows a usual method of polycondensation of polyester(-amide). For example, the p-hydroxybenzoic acid, an aromatic dihydroxy compound, a polyester polymer, an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, acetic anhydride, etc., are subjected to acetylation at 50-200 deg.C, and the temperature is then raised to 200-350 deg.C to effect deacetylating polymerization under a reduced pressure to give a liquid-crystal resin. 100 pts.wt. of this resin in mixed with 0-200 pts.wt. filler and 0.5-30 pts.wt. flame retardant comprising an organic bromine compound to give a resin composition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a tubular liquid crystal polymer composition having excellent mechanical properties and toughness owing to the highly oriented and dispersed liquid crystal resin by compounding a liquid crystal resin forming an anisotropic molten phase with a specific thermoplastic resin and extrusion-molding the mixture in tubular form.
