    Abstract: Apparatus for producing X-rays from an electric insulator. Two electrodes are disposed to contact the electric insulator. One electrode has a larger contact area with the insulator than that of the other. When a high D.C. or A.C. voltage is applied across the electrodes, the electric field becomes stronger in the portion of the insulator near the contact section with the small electrode, resulting in the production of X-rays from the vicinity of the contact section of the insulator with the small electrode.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To diminish electrons, ions and high temperature gas etc. reaching a take out window of X-rays by providing a grounded electrode between a plasma X-ray source and the take out window of X-rays. CONSTITUTION:An X-ray passing hole 7 is located at the center of a grounded electrode 6 provided between a plasma X-ray source 1 and a take out window of X-rays 2, and a conductive net 8 is spread here. These take out window of X- rays 2, grounded electrode 6 and net 8 are connected electrically to a vacuum vessel 5 and are grounded. Accordingly, electrons and ions emitted from the plasma X-ray source 1 at the same time with X-rays collide with the grounded electrode 6 and the conductive net 8, become an electrical current, and as they are absorbed by the grounded electrode 6 and the net 8, quantities of electrons and ions etc. reaching the take out window of X-rays 2 are diminished tremendously, and breakage of the take out window of X-rays 2 and decrease in X-ray transmitting rate are also avoided.
