Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for processing data using blockchain technology. The system includes a memory having programmable instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the system to: authenticate one or more sensors in anticipation of receiving component data; receive component data, upon successful authentication; store the component data locally or to a cloud-based server and/or calculate a root value for the component data; store or embed the root value with the stored component data; condense the component data and link the condensed component data to the stored component data via the root value. The system further includes instructions to log the condensed data, including the root value, to a ledger, and to identify a tag or transaction id corresponding to the logging event for subsequent retrieval of the condensed data using the tag or transaction id.

Abstract: Systems and methods to perform privacy-aware computer-vision-based human activity monitoring with real-time haptic feedback. The system and method described in this disclosure employing a registration process for consenting human subjects before their activities are monitored. The registration process involves the corroboration of human motion captured in different modalities, i.e., computer-vision-based via the programmable computer-vision-based motion sensor and accelerometer-based via the wearable device. The tracked human activities are assessed in real-time and upon detection of activities that violated predefined rules, haptic feedback is delivered in real-time to the tracked human subject via the wearable device worn by the caregiver.

Abstract: When forming ultra-conductive wire, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are dispersed and de-agglomerated in hot metal. The MWCNTs are dispersed in a precursor matrix via mixing and sintering to form precursor material, which is hot-extruded multiple rounds at a predetermined temperature to form a nano-composite material. The nano-composite material is inserted into a metal bar to form a nano-composite billet (306), which is subjected to multiple rounds of hot extrusion to form an ultra-conductive material. The ultra-conductive material is subjected to one or more rounds of hot wire drawing to form an ultra-conductive wire comprising a nano-composite filament.

Abstract: An actuating device for orthosis including a housing, a motor, a transmission disposed in the housing, and an actuating arm. The transmission is operatively connected to the motor such that the motor provides power to the transmission. The transmission includes a first stage, a second stage, and a third stage. The first stage has a first sprocket, a second sprocket, and a first drive belt tensioned between the first sprocket and the second sprocket. The first sprocket is attached to a shaft of the motor. The second stage has a third sprocket, a fourth sprocket, and a second drive belt tensioned by the third sprocket and the fourth sprocket. The third sprocket is attached to the second sprocket of the first stage. The third stage has a fifth sprocket, a sixth sprocket, and a third drive belt tensioned by the fifth sprocket and the sixth sprocket. The fifth sprocket is attached to the fourth sprocket of the second stage. The transmission additionally includes a first shaft and a second shaft. The second sprocket, the third sprocket, and the sixth sprocket are attached to the first shaft, and the fourth sprocket and the fifth sprocket are attached to the second shaft. The actuating arm is operatively connected to the sixth sprocket of the third stage of the transmission such that the power provided to the transmission by the motor causes the actuating arm to provide an output torque.

Abstract: Controller scaling and parameterization are described. Techniques that can be improved by employing the scaling and parameterization include, but are not limited to, controller design, tuning and optimization. The scaling and parameterization methods described here apply to transfer function based controllers, including PID controllers. The parameterization methods also applies to state feedback and state observer based controllers, as well as linear active disturbance rejection controllers.
