    Abstract: PURPOSE: A novel antibacterial peptide gene and antibacterial peptide isolated from Papilio xuthus larva are provided to ensure antibacterial activity against fungi causing candidiasis. CONSTITUTION: An antibacterial peptide gene isolated from Papilio xuthus larva has a base sequence of sequence number 1. An antibacterial peptide encoded by the gene of sequence number 1 has an amino acid sequence of sequence number 2. A pharmaceutical composition contains the antibacterial peptide of sequence number 2 or 3 as an active ingredient.

    Abstract: Glycosaminoglycans derived from insect are provided to maintain the systolic blood pressure be normal level in a hypertension patient by reducing blood pressure, regulate excessive growth of vascular endothelial cell and inhibit inflammation without excess of heart and pulse pressure. A method for producing glycosaminoglycans derived from insect comprises the steps of: (1) dipping a dried insect in an organic solvent selected from acetone, hexane, ethylacetate, methylalcohol, ethylalcohol, propanol, butanol, acetonitrile and dichloromethane to remove lipids and drying it; (2) degrading the dried insect of step (1) with alcalase in sodium bicarbonate solution(pH 9.0); (3) removing degraded proteins with 5 wt.% of trichloroacetic acid(TCA), and precipitating the protein removed solution with ethanol, cetylpyridinium and ethanol, sequentially; and (4) dialyzing the precipitates produced from the step (3) with distilled water.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A microinjection method of DNA into silkworm eggs using micro glass needle is provided, of which processes are easy to perform and which has superior transformation rate. Therefore, a transformed silkworm is mass-produced. CONSTITUTION: The micro glass needle is produced by cutting and grinding the end of a capillary glass tube. Thereby, DNA solution containing a foreign gene is injected into a silkworm egg with maintaining a certain angle between the egg and the needle, at once, in order to directly express the foreign gene in a reproductive cell. Wherein, the angle between the egg and the needle is preferably 30-50 degree.
