    Abstract: Production of polyether polyols comprises use of a multi-metal cyanide complex catalyst in a tall cylindrical reactor having a downward facing spray nozzle in the upper reactor portion, through which the educts and reaction mixture are fed and an outlet, preferably in the lower portion of the reactor to recirculate the reaction mixture via an external circuit and equalizing reservoir. A process for the production of polyether polyols (I) by reaction of diols or polyols with ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide in the presence of a multi-metal cyanide complex catalyst (II) comprises carrying out the reaction in a tall cylindrical reactor having a downward facing spray nozzle in the upper reactor portion, through which the educts and reaction mixture are fed, and an outlet, preferably in the lower portion of the reactor, through which the reaction mixture is fed by means of a pump through an external circuit via an equalizing reservoir to the spray nozzle. The external circuit comprises a concentric pipe stretching the entire length of the reactor excluding the reactor ends and contains a heat exchanger integrated within the annulus.

    Abstract: Polyol mixture containing: (i) a polyester-ol obtained from an olefin-unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer and a mono-alcohol, a 2-9C polyhydroxy compound (VII) or a more than 10C diol (II), or from diol (II), compound (VII) or a poly-carboxylic acid; or (ii) a polyether-ol from diol (II) or an alkylamine and an alkylene oxide. A polyol mixture containing: (A) 0.1-100 wt.% polyester-ol (i) or polyether-ol (ii) with 10-10000 carbon atoms, or at least two of these (not derived from castor oil or dimer fatty acid), in which (i) is obtained from (a) a copolymer (I) of an olefin (IV) with an alpha , beta -unsaturated carboxylic acid (V) and a mono-alcohol (VI) or a 2-9C polyhydroxy compound (VIII) or a diol (II) with 10 or more carbon atoms, or a mixture of two or more of these, or from (b) diol (II) and polyhydroxy compound (VII) or a carboxylic acid (VIII) with at least two COOH groups, or a mixture of two or more of these, and (ii) is obtained from (c) diol (II) and an alkylene oxide (IX) or from (d) an alkylamine (III) and alkylene oxide (IX); (B) 0-99.9 wt.% other polyester-ol(s) or polyether-ol(s); and (C) 0-10 wt.% additives. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a method for the production of polyurethanes by reacting a component containing this polyol mixture or alkylamine (III) with a polyisocyanate component; (2) polyurethanes obtained by this method; (3) polyurethanes containing a polyol mixture as described; (4) formed objects containing polyol mixtures or polyurethanes as described.
