    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer solid electrolyte which has satisfactory transparency, conductivity and mechanical characteristics and which can be made to possess into an easy aspect for an electrochromic device by incorporating a polymer binder, filler, conductive salt, plasticizer to convert ions into a solvent, and other additives as necessary, and specifying each of the transmittance for light, conductivity, and glass transition temperature. SOLUTION: This electrolyte contains a polymer binder, filler having 1 nm to 20 nm primary grain size, conductive salt, plasticizer to convert ions into a solvent and other selective additives and auxiliary agents, and has higher than 80% transmittance for light, higher than 10-6 S/cm conductivity at 20 deg.C and lower than -30 deg.C glass transition temperature Tg. As for the polymer binder, any polymer having proper transparency which can be subjected to thermoplastic treatment can be used, and a thermoplastic resin having higher than 80% trasmittance for light in the UV/VIS region is especially suitable. The filler is preferably an inorganic filler, having primary grain size in the range of 1 nm to 300 nm.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyurethane useful as a material for coating by reacting a specified polyhydric alcohol with an isocyanate. SOLUTION: This polyurethane which is suitable as a material or component of a coating material is obtained by reacting a prepolymer (a) obtained by reacting a polyhydric alcohol having more than one isocyanate-reactive hydroxyl group per molecule with an aromatic or aliphatic polyisocyanate in a ratio of the number of the isocyanatte-reactive hydroxyl groups to the number of the isocyanate groups of below 1 with an isocyanate selected from the group consisting of aromatic or aliphatic polyisocyanates (b) and a chain extender (2) obtained by reacting a polyhydric alcohol (a) with a compound (b) having an epoxy functional group and additionally an alcohol-reactive functional group, a reaction product (b) of the reaction product with an α,β-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid, and reacting this reaction product with an amine having a reactive prim. amino group.

    Abstract: Polyurethanes (I) used as coating materials or components for the same are prepared by reacting (1) an isocyanate (II) with a chain extender (V).Compounds (II) are chosen from either : (A) prepolymers prepared by reacting (A1) a polyvalent alcohol (III) containing more than one hydroxyl group which can react with an isocyanate group with (A2) an aliphatic or aromatic polyvalent isocyanate (IV), in which the ratio of reactive hydroxyl groups in (III) to isocyanate groups in (IV) is less than 1 ; or (B) compounds (IV). (V) are prepared by (a) reacting a polyvalent alcohol (VI) with (b1) a compound (VII) containing an epoxy function and a functional group which can react with alcohols, to form a compound (VIII) and then reacting (VIII) with an alpha,beta-olefinic unsaturated carboxylic acid (IX) to form a compound (X), or with (b2) a compound (IX) to form (X) and then (c) reacting (X) with an amine (XI) containing at least one prim. amino group which can react with the alpha,beta- multiple bond in (IX). The sum of the amino and hydroxyl groups in (V) capable of reacting with isocyanate groups is greater than the number of isocyanate groups in (II). Also claimed are (i) the preparation of (I) by the above method, (ii) the use of (I) as coating materials or components for these, (iii) cross-linkable binder systems comprising (I) and a polyvalent isocyanate (XII) in which the ratio of isocyanate groups for (XII) to the groups in (I) reactive towards isocyanate groups is 0.1-2 and (iv) coated articles prepared by applying a layer containing one of these binder systems and then cross-linking.
