Abstract: The treatment of polyether-polyols (I) which are obtained by conventional base-catalysed reaction of H- functional starters with alkylene oxides and then freed from catalyst and optionally any salt produced. Treatment comprises a combination of (a) thermal reaction at a pH of less than 7 and a temperature above 60 degrees C and (b) thermal distillation in a counter-current column using a purifying agent (II). Preferably step (a) is carried out at a pH of less than 6, preferably by adding acid and/or acidic substances, or by performing this step in presence of acid-reacting sorbents. The temperature rises to above 90 degrees C in step (a). Step (b) is carried out in a column with a counter-current of (II) at a gas velocity of 0.1-2 m/sec. and a liquid loading of 1-10 m /m /hr.

Abstract: A process for treating polyether polyols prepared in a conventional manner by base-catalyzed reaction of H-functional initiator substances with alkylene oxides comprises a combination of a thermal-reactive step at a pH of less than 7 and a temperature above 60.degree.C and a thermal-distillative step in a countercurrent column using a purifying agent. The polyether polyols prepared according to the invention are used for producing low-fogging and low-odor PUR foams.

Abstract: A polyether-polyol mixture (PPM) is claimed containing polyalkylene glycols of formula HO-(O-RCH-CH2)n-OH (I), nitrogen-containing polyetherols of formula N-R R R (II), oxazolidinones and/or their alkoxylates of formula (III), and possibly alkoxylates of higher functional alcohols and/or urea (derivatives) (IV). n = 1-20; R = H, (m)ethyl or optionally branched 3-20C alkyl; R = H or hydroxyalkylene; and R = hydroxyalkylene in formula (II), or H, Me or Et in formula (III). Also claimed is a process for the production of PPM by the base-catalysed reaction of alkylene oxides under conventional conditions with a mixture of aqueous or glycolic urea solution and possibly glycols and/or higher functional alcohols.

The high molecular compounds (a) comprise (a1) 1-99 wt.% polyol(s) and/or polyoxyalkylene polyamine(s) and (a2) 1-99 wt.% polyester-polyol component (II) obtained by reacting (a21) 10-99 wt.% polyester-polyol(s) (III) with (a22) 1-90 wt.% oligo- and/or polysaccharides (IV), before, during or after production of (III). Also claimed are (I) produced in this way and mouldings made from (I).

Abstract: Prepn of polyesterpolyols by polycondensation of multifunctional carboxylic acids with multifunctional alcohols is effected in the following 2 stages: (1) condensation at 150-250[deg]C under normal pressure or in a vacuum of up to 10 mbar to a prod. with acid number 2-10 mg KOH/g; and (2) addn. of an esterification catalyst and condensation at 250-290 (pref 260-275)[deg]C and under a vacuum of 1-50 mbar. Also claimed is prepn of opt foamed polyurethanes from polyisocyanates, polyols of mol wt 400-10,000 and opt also low mol chain extenders, blowing agents etc, with the polyol being obtd as per stages (1) and (2) above.
