    Abstract: The treatment of polyether-polyols (I) which are obtained by conventional base-catalysed reaction of H- functional starters with alkylene oxides and then freed from catalyst and optionally any salt produced. Treatment comprises a combination of (a) thermal reaction at a pH of less than 7 and a temperature above 60 degrees C and (b) thermal distillation in a counter-current column using a purifying agent (II). Preferably step (a) is carried out at a pH of less than 6, preferably by adding acid and/or acidic substances, or by performing this step in presence of acid-reacting sorbents. The temperature rises to above 90 degrees C in step (a). Step (b) is carried out in a column with a counter-current of (II) at a gas velocity of 0.1-2 m/sec. and a liquid loading of 1-10 m /m /hr.

    Abstract: Production of compact or cellular polyurethanes (I) containing oligo- and/or polysaccharide involves reacting (a) high molecular compounds with at least 2 reactive hydrogen atoms with (b) organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates, optionally in the presence of (c) chain extenders and/or crosslinking agents, (d) blowing agents, (e) catalysts and (f) ancillaries. The high molecular compounds (a) comprise (a1) 1-99 wt.% polyol(s) and/or polyoxyalkylene polyamine(s) and (a2) 1-99 wt.% polyester-polyol component (II) obtained by reacting (a21) 10-99 wt.% polyester-polyol(s) (III) with (a22) 1-90 wt.% oligo- and/or polysaccharides (IV), before, during or after production of (III). Also claimed are (I) produced in this way and mouldings made from (I).
