Abstract: A molding composition is described and comprises a mixture of interpenetrating polymers. A first phase comprises a crosslinked isobutene polymer, and a second phase encompasses a reinforcing polymer comprising (meth)acrylic and/or vinylaromatic units. The first phase is the reaction product of an isobutene polymer having an average of at least 1.4 functional groups in the molecule and of a crosslinking agent having an average of at least two functional groups in the molecule, the functionality of these being complementary to that of the functional groups of the isobutene polymer. The molding composition is particularly suitable for the roofing of buildings, or as impact-modified polystyrene or polymethyl methacrylate.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of polyalkenylsuccinimide products, in particular polyisobutenylsuccinimide products, is proposed, in which a polyalkene is reacted with a maleic acid, maleic anhydride or a functional derivative thereof to give a polyalkenylsuccinic anhydride and the polyalkenylsuccinic anhydride is then reacted with an oligoamine or polyamine, the polyalkenylsuccinic anhydride either (a) first being reacted with an alcohol or phenol and, without isolation of the reaction product, then with the oligoamine or polyamine, or (b) the polyalkenylsuccinic anhydride being reacted with the oligoamine or polyamine in the presence of an alcohol or phenol and (c) if desired, the alcohol or the phenol then being removed. Novel polyalkenylsuccinimide products, in particular polyisobutenylsuccinimide products, and fuel additives are also proposed.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing linear alpha olefins by means of an isomerising metathetical reaction and ensuing ethenolysis. The method comprises the following steps: i) a C4-C10 olefin fraction is introduced into an isomerising metathesis reaction; ii) the mixture obtained is separated into a) a C2-C3-olefin fraction, b) a fraction containing olefins having the desired carbon count, c) a light fraction containing olefins having a carbon count of C4 or above, but below the carbon count of the desired fraction b) and, d) a heavy fraction containing olefins having a carbon count which is above the carbon count of the desired fraction b); iii) the light fraction c) and optionally the heavy fraction d) are redirected into the isomerising metathesis reaction i); iv) the fraction b) and optionally the fraction d) are introduced into an ethenolysis reaction; and v) the alpha olefin fraction produced in iv) is isolated. Linear C8-C12 alpha olefins can be especially produced using said method.
