Abstract:
A wearable action-assist device includes a biosignal detection unit detecting a biosignal from a wearer, an action-assist wearing tool having a drive source supplying a torque acting on the wearer around each joint of the wearer as an axis of rotation, a control unit controlling the drive source to generate the torque according to the detected biosignal, a drive torque estimation unit estimating a drive torque generated by the drive source, a joint-angle detecting unit detecting an angular displacement of the joint, and a parameter identification unit identifying kinetics parameters concerned by substituting the estimated drive torque and the detected angular displacement into an equation of motion of an entire system including kinetics parameters intrinsic to the wearer. The control unit is configured to control the drive source according to a predetermined control method based on the equation of motion into which the identified parameters are substituted.
Abstract:
A system includes a guidance device that provides feedback to a user to compress a patient's chest at a rate of between about 90 and 110 compressions per minute and at a depth of between about 4.5 centimeters to about 6 centimeters. The system includes a pressure regulation system having a pressure-responsive valve that is configured to be coupled to a patient's airway. The pressure-responsive valve is configured to remain closed during successive chest compressions in order to permit removal at least about 200 ml from the lungs in order to lower intracranial pressure to improve survival with favorable neurological function. The pressure-responsive valve is configured to remain closed until the negative pressure within the patient's airway reaches about −7 cm H2O, at which time the pressure-responsive valve is configured to open to provide respiratory gases to flow to the lungs through the pressure-responsive valve.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for dynamic compression of venous tissue enable improved blood movement in the extremities. In accordance with an exemplary embodiment, a pressure pad provides a compressive force to a portion of the human body. The pressure pad is successively withdrawn and re-pressed against the body. In this manner, prevention and/or treatment of various medical conditions may be achieved, for example restless leg syndrome, edema, plantar fasciitis, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, venous insufficiency, wound care, and/or the like.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are disclosed for capturing sensor data collected by a personal massaging device with associated sensors, analyzing the data, determining biofeedback data based on the sensor data, and according to some embodiments generating a sexual response profile based on the biofeedback data and a model of human sexual response. Data may be collected and analyzed for a number of uses, including but not limited to: (1) studying human sexual response, (2) adjusting outputs of the personal massaging device based on preset conditions, (3) treating sexual dysfunction conditions, and (4) improving sexual experiences.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a motorized dual motion passive action rehabilitation and exercise apparatus for the lower extremities. The use of a fully automatic exercise apparatus allows a person to exercise their lower extremities and achieve adequate range of motion in their ankle, knee, and hip joints without having to engage in active, physical activity or with the assistance of another person. The pre-set speed, motion, and angle of the moving parts of the apparatus provide a steady and optimal movement to maximize therapeutic benefit while preventing injury caused by over excursion of the joints and muscles. The movement achieved by the use of the apparatus allows a person's calves muscles to be contracted and relaxed at an optimal level to encourage blood and lymphatic fluid circulation.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to methods and systems for multi-mode personal massaging including a sensor unit configured to detect one or more biofeedback signals from a user of a personal massaging device or a partner. The system can further include a controller configured to analyze the one or more biofeedback signals, and determine one or more corresponding and modifiable outputs stored in a memory, based on the one or more biofeedback signals. The system can further include a massaging unit configured to output the one or more outputs determined by the controller, based on the one or more biofeedback signals.
Abstract:
Optical alignment for piston driven chest compression devices optimizes the application of chest compressions to a fixed location on a subject's chest and provides information regarding the depth and frequency of chest compressions. The targeting system records and may display some telemetry corresponding to any movement or “walking” away from the selected compression site as well as the depth and frequency of compressions. The targeting system is interconnected to the compression device controller and the targeting system provides warnings to operators if the compression components contact the subject outside a preset warning limit away from the selected compression site. The targeting system may also halt the compression device if the site of contact between the compression components and the subject is located outside a preset absolute limit.
Abstract:
A system includes a first trolley and a second trolley movably suspended from a support track. The first trolley includes a patient attachment mechanism configured to support a first patient. The first trolley is configured to move relative to the support track. The second trolley includes a patient attachment mechanism configured to support a second patient. The second trolley is configured to move relative to the support track such that the movement of the second trolley is independent of the movement of the first trolley. A collision management assembly is configured to be coupled to one of the first trolley and the second trolley. The collision management assembly includes a bumper that is configured to prevent the first trolley from directly contacting the second trolley.
