PURPOSE: A method for isolating beta-sitosterol from Hippophae rhamnoides L. stems is provided to obtain a therapeutic agent for treating various inflammatory diseases including arthritis. CONSTITUTION: A method for isoalting beta-sitosterol from Hippophae rhamnoides L. stems comprises: a step of dipping dry Hippophae rhamnoides L. stems in ethanol and applying ultrasonic wave; a step of collecting supernatant to prepare ethanol extract; a step of adding distilled water and hexane to the ethanol extract and collecting supernatant to prepare a hexane fraction; a step of adding dichloromethane to prepare a dichloromethane fraction; a step of adding ethyl acetate to upper layer isolated from the solution to prepare an ethyl acetate fraction; a step of adding butanol to a lower layer isolated from the solution containing ethyl acetate to prepare a butanol fraction; a step of preparing a distilled water fraction from the solution; a step of mixing the hexane fraction, dichloromethane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, butanol fraction, and distilled water fraction to prepare a mixture fraction; and a step of performing middle pressure liquid chromatography of the mixture fraction using a first solution containing hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and butanol and a second solution containing methanol.

PURPOSE: A composition containing ethanol extract of Lythrum salicaria L. extract is provided to suppress carbohydrate and to enhance lipid metabolic enzyme activity. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating diabetes and obesity contains 0.01-99.99 wt% of ethanol extract of Lythrum salicaria L. leaves. The extract is prepared by adding 1-5 L of ethanol to 1kg of Lythrum salicaria L. leaf powder and extracting at 20-25°C and 100-300rpm for 10-24 hours 1-3 times. The composition also contains pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. The composition is manufactured in the form of powder, granules, tablets, pills, capsules, suspension, emulsion, syrup, or injection solution.

PURPOSE: A separation method of beta-sitosterol from trunks of hippophae rhamnoides, and an anti-inflammatory activity composition containing the beta-sitosterol are provided to use the anti-inflammatory activity composition as a therapeutic agent for arthritis. CONSTITUTION: A separation method of beta-sitosterol from trunks of hippophae rhamnoides comprises the following steps: applying ethanol to the bark of the dried trunks of the hippophae rhamnoides, for obtaining the ethanol extract of the trunks of the hippophae rhamnoides; adding distilled water and hexane to the ethanol extract for separating an upper layer and a lower layer from the solution containing the hexane; separating an upper layer and a lower layer from a solution containing dichloromethane; collecting the lower layer from the solution containing the dichloromethane, for obtaining dichloromethane fractions; and separating the beta-sitosterol from the dichloromethane fractions using the medium pressure liquid chromatography.

PURPOSE: A composition containing Aceriphyllum rossii leaf extract for preventing and treating diabetes and obesity is provided to suppress alpha-glucosidase and alpha-amylase and to enhance ACS activation. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing Aceriphyllum rossii leaf ethanol extract comprises: a step of treating Aceriphyllum rossii leaf powder by low frequency at 20-25°C and 5-10kHz for 10 minutes to 1 hour; a step of adding 10-15L of ethanol to 1kg of the Aceriphyllum rossii leaf powder; and a step of extracting the Aceriphyllum rossii leaf powder at 20-25°C and 100-300rpm for 12-48 hours once to three times. A composition for preventing and treating diabetes and obesity contains the extract and pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.

CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating obesity contains 0.1-99.9 wt% of a mixture of ethanol extracts of Purple loosestrife leaves and Aceriphyllum rossii leaves. The ethanol extract of Purple loosestrife leaves is prepared by adding 1-5 L of ethanol to 1 kg of Purple loosestrife leaves, extracting at 20-25 deg. C and at 100-300 rpm for 10-24 hours 1-3 times, and filtering. The ethanol extract of Aceriphyllum rossii leaves is prepared by adding 1-5 L of ethanol to 1 kg of Aceriphyllum rossii leaves, extracting at 20-25 deg.
