PURPOSE: A method for isolating beta-sitosterol from Hippophae rhamnoides L. stems is provided to obtain a therapeutic agent for treating various inflammatory diseases including arthritis. CONSTITUTION: A method for isoalting beta-sitosterol from Hippophae rhamnoides L. stems comprises: a step of dipping dry Hippophae rhamnoides L. stems in ethanol and applying ultrasonic wave; a step of collecting supernatant to prepare ethanol extract; a step of adding distilled water and hexane to the ethanol extract and collecting supernatant to prepare a hexane fraction; a step of adding dichloromethane to prepare a dichloromethane fraction; a step of adding ethyl acetate to upper layer isolated from the solution to prepare an ethyl acetate fraction; a step of adding butanol to a lower layer isolated from the solution containing ethyl acetate to prepare a butanol fraction; a step of preparing a distilled water fraction from the solution; a step of mixing the hexane fraction, dichloromethane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, butanol fraction, and distilled water fraction to prepare a mixture fraction; and a step of performing middle pressure liquid chromatography of the mixture fraction using a first solution containing hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and butanol and a second solution containing methanol.

PURPOSE: A separation method of beta-sitosterol from trunks of hippophae rhamnoides, and an anti-inflammatory activity composition containing the beta-sitosterol are provided to use the anti-inflammatory activity composition as a therapeutic agent for arthritis. CONSTITUTION: A separation method of beta-sitosterol from trunks of hippophae rhamnoides comprises the following steps: applying ethanol to the bark of the dried trunks of the hippophae rhamnoides, for obtaining the ethanol extract of the trunks of the hippophae rhamnoides; adding distilled water and hexane to the ethanol extract for separating an upper layer and a lower layer from the solution containing the hexane; separating an upper layer and a lower layer from a solution containing dichloromethane; collecting the lower layer from the solution containing the dichloromethane, for obtaining dichloromethane fractions; and separating the beta-sitosterol from the dichloromethane fractions using the medium pressure liquid chromatography.

Tea-bag type tea containing the stems and leaves of Eleutherococcus senticosus and its preparation method are provided to enable consumers to take the useful ingredients of Eleutherococcus senticosus easily by roasting the stems and leaves. Tea-bag type tea containing the stems and leaves of Eleutherococcus senticosus is prepared by the steps of: (i) drying the stems or leaves of Eleutherococcus senticosus to the water content of 5~15%, roasting the dried stems or leaves at 210~250‹C for 5~25min, pulverizing the roasted stems or leaves into 1~5mm, roasting bean and corn at 210‹C for 10~25min and pulverizing them into 150mum~1mm, and pulverizing apple into 150mum~1mm; and (ii) mixing 50~70% of the roasted leaves, 20~40% of the roasted stems, 5~15% of side ingredients(0.5~10% of each of the apple, bean and corn), and then making tea-bag type tea with Eleutherococcus senticosus by using a tea-bag packer.
Abstract:
Granular tea containing an Eleutherococcus senticosus extract and its preparation method are provided to minimize the loss of useful ingredients contained in Eleutherococcus senticosus, and to produce functional foods using the Eleutherococcus senticosus. Granular tea containing an Eleutherococcus senticosus extract is prepared by the steps of: (i) drying the stem or root of Eleutherococcus senticosus for the water content to be 5~15%, and roasting the dried stem or root at 210~250‹C for 5~25min; (ii) performing a first extraction at 90~100‹C for 5~6hr by adding water to the roasted stem or root in a weight ratio of 25~30:1, performing a second extraction at 80~90‹C for 3~4hr by adding water to the roasted stem or root in a weight ratio of 8~10:1, and performing extraction at 90~100‹C for 3~4hr by adding water to undried and grinded fruit in a weight ratio of 20~25:1; and (iii) mixing 7~11% of the stem extract(15Brix or so), 2~6% of the root extract(15Brix or so), 1~3% of the fruit extract(15Brix or so), and 85% of sugar, and then making granular tea with Eleutherococcus senticosus by using a granule-making machine.
