    Abstract: Disclosed is an external airbag inflating method which includes a setting step which sets a detection region in the front side of a vehicle; a target object selecting step which selects an object as a target object among detected objects within the detection region if a relative speed of the object is greater than a first standard, an overlap of the object is over a second standard, and a TTE which is a remaining time until collision between an object and an airbag cushion when the inflation of an external airbag is expected is less than a third standard; a prediction step which determines if the predetermined relative speed and overlap are greater than a predetermined level when the collision between the target object and a vehicle is expected; and an inflation step which inflates the external airbag when the relative speed and overlap predicted in case of the collision between the target object and the vehicle are greater than the predetermined level.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A steering wheel for a vehicle is provided to reduce the chest and neck injuries of a driver by absorbing the impact through deforming the specific portion contacted with the chest of a driver in case of the impact of a driver and a steering wheel. CONSTITUTION: A steering wheel for a vehicle(10) comprises a deformation inducing structure. The deformation inducing structure induces the deformation lower portion of a rim(11) in case of the impact affects the lower portion of a rim. The deformation inducing structure forms a form-retaining rim skeleton(11a). The deformation inducing structure is comprised in one or more position in a deformation inducing rim skeleton(11b). The deformation inducing rim skeleton forms the lower portion of a rim. The deformation inducing structure is formed in the center of the deformation inducing rim skeleton.
