    Abstract: PURPOSE: An antimicrobial peptide derived from Thunnus albacares is provided to show effective antimicrobial activity against fish pathogenic microorganisms without harming the fish and the human body because the peptide does not have a hemolytic activity to erythrocytes of human and fish. CONSTITUTION: A peptide with an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1 or a variant thereof has an antimicrobial activity. The peptide or the derivative is derived from Thunnus albacares. The peptide or the derivative has an antimicrobial activity against gram positive bacteria and gram negative bacteria. The peptide or the variant does not damage erythrocytes of human or fish. A gene encodes the peptide or the variant. Antibiotics contain the peptide as an active ingredient.
