Abstract: An image recording apparatus having a summer time function and a record reproduction method thereof are provided to determine whether a summer time starts or ends and vary a time when image data is recorded and a display time when the image data is displayed to a user during the summer time, thereby recording the image data in a recording medium without a loss of data prestored in the recording medium when the summer time ends. An image recording apparatus(100) includes a first interface unit(110), a signal processing unit(120), a second interface unit(130), a codec(140), an operation unit(150), a storage unit(160), and a control unit(170). The first interface unit receives an electric signal corresponding to a subject photographed by a monitoring camera(10). The signal processing unit performs the signal processing of noise cancellation and detail improvement for the electric signal inputted through the first interface unit to generate viewable image data. The codec compresses and outputs the image data of a predetermined format outputted by the signal processing unit into an image format according to preset image standards. The operation unit provides an interface between the image recording apparatus and a user, and outputs the start day/time and end day/time of a summer time received from the user to the control unit. The storage unit stores various programs necessary for driving the image recording apparatus, stores a preset summer time reference start day/time and end day/time, and stores the image data outputted from the control unit. The control unit sets and outputs a display time to be faster than a system time as much as an hour if the summer time starts and sets a recording time to be the same as the system time, and records the image data in the storage unit later than the display time as much as an hour.
