Abstract: A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to improve the efficiency and stableness of assembly. An LCD comprises a liquid crystal panel, a plurality of light source parts(520), a socket unit(530), and a container(600). The light source parts are arranged at the rear of the liquid crystal panel. Each light source part consists of a main body(521) and an electrode(522). The container accepts the light source parts and the socket unit. The socket unit, into which the end portion of each light source part is inserted, comprises clamps(531), a socket body(534), and a socket locker(538). Each of the clamps has a light source support part(532) to support the electrode of each light source part. The socket body, combined with the container, has insertion holes(535a) and clamping bosses(536). The insertion holes respectively receive the clamps and expose the light source support parts to the front. The socket locker has openings(539) to establish insertion positions, where the clamping bosses respectively are inserted, and combination positions, where the socket locker, slid from the insertion positions, is combined with the socket body.

Abstract: A backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display device having the same are provided to form an opening, corresponding to a transformer, at a bottom chassis, thereby reducing eddy current on the bottom chassis, bonding a power supply substrate with the bottom chassis closely, and reducing the whole thickness of the assembly. The opening is more expanded by 1.2 to 3 times than the plane view of the transformer. The reflecting plate is made of resin. Thereby, eddy current on a bottom chassis is prevented.

Therefore, the reflection member reflects the light from the lamps to the display panel. The lamp fixing member includes polycarbonate or ABS(Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) resin. A color of the polycarbonate is black.
