Abstract: An apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display device is provided to suppress a flicker phenomenon by maintaining a uniform brightness on a lamp during one frame. An apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display device having an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel assembly includes a lighting unit(900), a signal controller(600), and a signal compensator(700). The lighting unit irradiates light on the LCD panel assembly. The signal controller outputs a first control signal corresponding to the brightness of the image data from the outside. The signal compensator generates a second control signal based on the first control signal from the signal controller and applies the second control signal to the lighting unit, when the image data is a still image.
