Abstract: PURPOSE: An antibacterial composition containing amphipathic gallol derivatives is provided to ensure antioxidation in a cell membrane with low irritation. CONSTITUTION: An antibacterial composition contains an amphipathic gallol derivative of 1,2,3-trihydroxy- 4-alkylbenzene(T-OH_4R) derivatives as an active ingredient. The amphipathic gallol derivative is 4-pentylgallol, 4-pentyl-1,2,3-benzenetriol(PG), 4-pentadecylgallol(PDG), or 4-eicosylgallol, 4-eicosyl-1,2,3-benzenetriol(EG). The antibacterial composition has antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis; gram-negative bacteria including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Bacillus subtilis; and pathogen including Helicobacter pylori.

CONSTITUTION: A method for purifying arbutin of high purity using Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai cv. pericarp comprises: a step of uniformly mixing Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai cv. pricarp and alcohol and placing in the dark for 2- hours; a step of filtering and concentrating; a step of suspending the concentrate with distilled water and removing oil ingredients; and a step of concentrating a water layer of solvent fraction and purifying the water layer.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An antimicrobial composition containing a synthesized non-allergenic urushiol derivative as an active ingredient is provided to secure the strong antimicrobial effect of the composition. CONSTITUTION: An antimicrobial composition for preventing the food spoilage contains a non-allergenic urushiol derivative with the antibacterial activity for food decomposition bacteria as an active ingredient. The non-allergenic urushiol derivative is 3-pentylcatechol or 3-eicosylcatechol.
