Abstract: PURPOSE: A system and a method of tracking an object using a different kind camera are provided to combine object information using a different kind camera, thereby accurately extracting and tracking an object. CONSTITUTION: A video camera(13) outputs the first video data photographing an object. An infrared camera(15) outputs the second video data for photographing the object. A controller(30) senses motion of the object from the first video data, presumes the shape of the object, and produces the first shape information. The controller separates an object from a background based on a temperature of the object and a background temperature from the second video data, presumes the shape of the object, and calculates the second shape information. The controller combines the first and second shape information to determine an object to be tracked.

Abstract: 본 발명은 이종 카메라를 이용한 객체 추적 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 이종 카메라를 이용하여 획득한 두 개의 객체 정보를 조합하여 정확한 객체를 추출하여 추적하기 위한 것이다. 본 발명에 따르면, 객체 추적 장치가 영상 카메라 및 적외선 카메라로 각각 객체를 촬영하여 제1 및 제2 영상 데이터를 획득한다. 객체 추적 장치가 제1 영상 데이터에서 객체의 움직임을 감지하여 객체의 형태를 추정한 제1 형태 정보를 산출한다. 객체 추적 장치가 제2 영상 데이터에서 객체의 온도와 배경의 온도의 차이를 이용하여 배경에서 객체를 분리하여 객체의 형태를 추정한 제2 형태 정보를 산출한다. 그리고 객체 추적 장치가 제1 및 제2 형태 정보를 조합하여 추적할 객체를 결정한다. 이때 추적할 객체를 결정할 때, 객체 추적 장치는 제1 및 제2 형태 정보와 더불어 객체의 자세 정보를 함께 고려할 수 있다.
