    Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing derivatives synthesized from decursin for preventing or treating obesity is provided to suppress fatty acid synthesis. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating obesity contains decursinol benzoate which is synthedized from decursin. The decursinol benzoate suppresses fatty acid synthesis by AMPK(5' adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase) activity. A method for synthesizing decursinol benzoate comprises: a step of performing enfleurage of dried Angelicae gigantis Radix in methanol at room temperature for seven days and filtering; a step of suspending the methanol extract in distilled water and isolating dichloromethane; and a step of freeze-drying and performing silicagel column chromatography to prepare six fraction.
