The present invention relates to a protease having an algicidal activity, a gene encoding the same, and an algicidal formulation including the same. The protease of the present invention has the excellent algicidal formulation, thereby being used in control of red tide in a red tide occurrence area. Specifically, provided is a method for controlling red tide which is characterized by comprising the steps of: producing at least one protease selected from a group consisting of sequence number 1, 7, and 27 by using a Kordia algicida OT1 strain (KCTC 11320BP); and putting an algicidal formulation which contains the produced protease as an active component into sea.

Provided in the present invention are a protease with algicidal activity having any one amino acid sequence among sequence number 1, 4 to 7, 26, and 27, and a gene encoding the protease.

The proteinase with the algicidal activity is provided to inhibit the growth of red-tide plankton, thereby processing the red-tide generation region effectively. The proteinase with the algicidal activity has an amino acid sequence selected from SEQ ID NOs:1, 4-7, 26 and 27, and is produced from Kordia algicida OT1(KCTC 11320BP). A gene encoding the proteinase with the algicidal activity has a nucleotide sequence selected from SEQ ID NOs:2, 8-11, 28 and 29.
