Abstract:
The S-substituted at 2-position of pyrrole (I) for herbicide is produced by (1) reacting propazyl halide and N-(2-fluoro-4-chloro-5-hydroxyphenyl) -2,3-dimethyl maleimide (IV) from 2,3-dimethyl maleate and 2-fluoro-4-chloro- 5-hydroxy aniline to get N-(2-fluoro-4-chloro-5-propazyl oxyphenyl) -2,3-dimethyl maleimide (V), (2) reducing (V) with mercaptan compounds to get N-(2-fluoro- 4-chloro-5-propazyl oxyphenyl) -3,4-dimethyl -2-hydroxy-5-oxo- 2,5-dihydropyrrole (VI), (3) reacting (VI) and thiophenol 4-halide to get N-substituted phenyl-3,4-dimethyl- 2- (S-substituted)-S-oxo- 2,5-dihydro pyrroles (I). (I) as herbicide is useful for tomato, wheat, soybean, corn and rice.
