    Abstract: PURPOSE: A fail control method of an automatic transmission for a vehicle is provided to improve the performance of the transmission, and to cut down expenses by preventing degradation of parts in increasing oil temperature at failure of speed change. CONSTITUTION: Failure of speed range is detected in traveling forward after starting a vehicle(S100,S110). Oil temperature is compared with the first reference value at failure of speed range(S120). Counting is performed, and slip difference between engine rpm and turbine rpm is compared with the second predetermined slip amount in increasing oil temperature over the first reference value(S130,S140). Count time is compared with the third reference time in case of the slip difference to be over the second predetermined slip amount(S150). An oil temperature increase control signal is output in passing the third reference time(S160). The performance of the transmission is improved, and wrong operation is prevented by restricting degradation of parts in increasing oil temperature at failure of speed range.
