Abstract: PURPOSE: A navigation device of an electric vehicle and a method thereof are provided to guide a route via a charging station when driving to a destination location is impossible by calculating a possible driving distance of the electric vehicle, thereby preventing a battery from being discharged on the way to the destination location. CONSTITUTION: A navigation device of an electric vehicle comprises an input unit(10), a route search unit(20), a driving range calculation unit(30), a display unit(40), and a control unit(50). The route search unit searches a route to an input destination location and researches a route to the destination location via a charging station. The possible driving distance calculation unit calculates a possible driving distance based on a battery residue and a vehicle speed. The display unit displays an input window and provides a route guide with respect to a route searched by the route search unit. The control unit controls the possible driving distance calculation unit to calculate a driving possible distance according to searching the route with the route searching unit. The control unit controls the display unit to display the input window for searching the charging station when the calculated driving possible distance is shorter than the destination location.
