Abstract: A method for estimating quantity of diesel particulate in a DPF is provided to accurately estimate diesel particulate amount deposited inside a particulate by increasing initial back pressure. A method for estimating quantity of diesel particulate in a DPF comprises a first step of measuring O2 oxygen concentration, dP that is a differential pressure between the front part and the rear part when operation state is in constant idle state(S32); a step of calculating Msoot, that is particulate amount of a differential pressure model by employing a differential pressure model composed of a function of an operation time and an operation condition; a fourth step of calculating Msoot_1, that is diesel particulate amount, in the service reproducing zone by using time reducing rate of differential pressure inside a DPF(S34); a fourth step of calculating Msoot_1 in the service replay zone; and a step of calculating Msoot, that is diesel particulate amount, by reflecting dP0'(S36).

Abstract: An apparatus for measuring soot in real-time and a method for reducing soot by using the same are provided to prevent output loss due to limitation in the amount of fuel by controlling exhaust-gas recirculation, boost pressure and swirl instead of the amount of fuel. An apparatus for measuring soot in real-time comprises a laser device(11) and an optical measurement device. The laser device is installed at one side of an exhaust pipe(1) to emit laser beams into the exhaust pipe. The optical measurement device is installed at the other side of the exhaust pipe, and receives the laser beams emitted from laser device to measure the intensity of the laser beams. An electronic control unit(13) receives a measured value output from the optical measurement device to calculate in real-time the amount of soot contained in exhaust gas discharged through the exhaust pipe.

CONSTITUTION: A DPF(Diesel Particulate Filter) damage detection device for LPEGR(Low Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation) vehicles comprises a turbine(1), a turbocharger, a DPF(2), a LPEGR valve(5), a LPEGR cooler(8), an emergency filter(9), and a differential pressure detection unit(14). The turbine is rotated with exhaust gas. A compressor(7) of the turbocharger supercharges air to an engine through an intercooler after sucking the air by interlocking with rotation of the turbine. The DPF purifies the exhaust gas discharged through the turbine. The LP EGR valve is installed on a rear end of the DPF. A pipeline(6) is connected to the LPEGR valve and compressor. The LP EGR cooler is installed in the middle of the pipeline. The differential pressure detection unit detects the differential pressure between an exhaust pipeline(12) and the rear end of the emergency filter.

A VGT duty is registered by monitoring the VGT. Differences between DUTYn and DUTYo are compared with an initial learning value. In the comparison step, the DPF is determined as a malfunction if the differences in VGT duty are more than a set value.
