    Abstract: PURPOSE: A display apparatus for the assistance of driving a car is provided to prevent accidents by guiding an optimal path, detecting the surroundings using a camera, and displaying the traffic conditions of a road ahead. CONSTITUTION: A display apparatus for the assistance of driving a car comprises an obstacle detection unit(10), an approaching material detection unit(11), eye point and eye gaze detection units(15,16), a car periphery determining unit(17), a display adjusting value output unit(18), and a display unit(19). The obstacle detection unit and the approaching material detection unit detect the location, the distance, the direction, and the speed of an obstacle and an approaching material by using a monitoring camera on the front of the car body. The eye point and eye gaze detection units are installed on a steering column to detect the eye point and the eye gaze of a driver by using a sensor for three-dimensional distance and location. The car periphery determining unit produces the traveling trajectory and provides the traffic conditions of the front lane and the opposite lane after receiving the acquired information. The display adjusting value output unit prepares the reference picture of the traveling trajectory and traffic conditions. The display unit converts the reference picture by applying the calculated value to match the reference picture with the eye gaze of the driver and subsequently displays the converted picture on a window shield glass.
