Abstract:
A scouring article including a monolithic nonwoven pad with a semi-densified fibrous layer that is integral to the monolithic nonwoven pad and that provides a major surface of the monolithic nonwoven pad, and methods of making and using.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to thermoplastic pavement markings and to thermoplastic pavement marking compositions that include more than about 7 wt% EVA.
Abstract:
Nonwoven fibrous webs including randomly oriented discrete fibers defining a multiplicity of non-hollow projections extending from a major surface of the nonwoven fibrous web (as considered without the projections), and a plurality of substantially planar land areas formed between each adjoining projection in a plane defined by and substantially parallel with the major surface. In some exemplary embodiments, the randomly oriented discrete fibers include multi-component fibers having at least a first region having a first melting temperature and a second region having a second melting temperature, wherein the first melting temperature is less than the second melting temperature. At least a portion of the oriented discrete fibers are bonded together at a plurality of intersection points with the first region of the multi-component fibers. In certain embodiments, the patterned air-laid nonwoven fibrous webs include particulates. Methods of making and using such patterned air-laid nonwoven fibrous webs are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An adhesive-backed film with an adhesive layer having thermoplastic or thermoset filaments partially projecting therefrom, to promote fluid egress and repositionability.
Abstract:
A method of making an adhesive backed web, wherein the adhesive layer of such web has partially embedded filaments projecting therefrom. The filaments may comprise a thermoplastic material or a hot melt adhesive. The filaments are contacted to a major surface of a liner material then pressed partially thereinto. An adhesive layer, as from an adhesive backed film, is then laminated to the filament-containing liner, allowing the adhesive layer to pick up the filaments.
Abstract:
Methods are disclosed in which two or more forming chambers are used to process inorganic fibers by gravity-laying methods. The methods may comprise using a first forming chamber to open inorganic fibers and using a second forming chamber to process the opened inorganic fibers, optionally to blend the opened inorganic fibers with additional inorganic fibers and/or with particulate additives, and to collect the inorganic fibers as a mat. The methods may comprise using a first forming chamber to form a first inorganic fiber layer and a second forming chamber to form a second inorganic fiber layer, and consolidating the first and second inorganic fiber layers so as to provide a multilayer gravity-laid inorganic fiber web.
Abstract:
A cable sleeve for use with a safety cable of a fall protection system. The cable sleeve has a braking system that includes a constant-contact wheel, a rotor that is connected to the constant- contact wheel, a cam plate, and a braking shoe. The rotor may have a permanent magnet and a magnetically susceptible item that is held in a disengaged position by the permanent magnet. Rotation of the constant-contact wheel can overcome the magnetic force and cause the item to move so as to engage with the cam plate and actuate braking by the braking shoe.
Abstract:
A sensing element includes a substrate including an electrically non-conductive surface, at least one high surface energy region, and an electrode pair structure disposed on the electrically non-conductive surface. The electrode pair structure includes at least one pair of electrodes having a gap therebetween. At least one of the electrodes is at least partially within the at least one high surface energy region. The sensing element is configured to sense fluid-soluble particulate matter.
Abstract:
A hearing-protective earplug (1) with a resilient polymeric foam body (10) and with a grippable stem (110) that includes a forward portion (111) with an annular sleeve (112) that at least partially defines an open-ended, front-facing cavity (114) within which a rearward portion (21) of the resilient polymeric foam body resides.
Abstract:
A method for forming a color shifting film on a supportand a color shifting film are disclosed, the film comprising a reflective stack disposed adjacent to the support and an image formed in the film such that it may be viewed or illuminated through the reflective stack. The reflective stack comprises an at least partially transparent spacer layer comprising a substituted acrylamide polymer disposed between a partially reflective first layer and a reflective second layer. The acrylamide layer has a thickness sufficient to produce an interference color.
