Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a method of making an abrasive article. The method can include providing a combination of a mesh backing and a fastener. The mesh backing has a first side and a second side and the mesh backing has a fastener disposed on the second side and intertwined through the mesh backing therein. The combination comprises a raised portion on the first side having a first dimension. The method can include calendering the first side of the mesh backing to form a calendered mesh backing such that the raised portion results in a second dimension. The second dimension is less than the first dimension. The method can include depositing a curable make layer precursor on a major surface of the calendered mesh backing, deposing a plurality of abrasive particles onto the curable make layer precursor, and at least partially curing the curable make layer precursor.
Abstract:
Nonwoven electret fibrous webs including randomly oriented discrete fibers comprising electret fibers, the webs including a multiplicity of non-hollow projections extending from a major surface of the nonwoven electret fibrous web, and a multiplicity of substantially planar land areas formed between each adjoining projection in a plane defined by and substantially parallel with the major surface. In some exemplary embodiments, the randomly oriented discrete fibers include multi-component fibers having at least a first region having a first melting temperature and a second region having a second melting temperature, wherein the first melting temperature is less than the second melting temperature. At least a portion of the oriented discrete fibers are bonded together at a plurality of intersection points with the first region of the multi-component fibers. In certain embodiments, the patterned air-laid nonwoven electret fibrous webs include particulates. Methods of making and using patterned electret fibrous webs are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A web of nonwoven fabric suitable for, e.g., the loop portion of a hook-and-loop fastening system. The method for making this material relies on differential shrinkage of different layers to cause the loops to self-form. The method is robust and simpler than that previously used for similar constructions.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of a filtering face-piece respirator and a method of making such respirator are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the filtering face-piece respirator includes a mask body and a harness attached to the mask body. The mask body includes a corrugated filtering structure including peaks separated by valleys, and bridging filaments that are in discontinuous contact with at least one of an interior surface and an exterior surface of the corrugated filtering structure. The bridging filaments are attached to at least some of the peaks.
Abstract:
Described herein is a construction comprising (a) a support sheet having a base, comprising (i) a plurality of rails extending from the base wherein each rail of the plurality of rails extends continuously down a length of the support sheet and each rail comprises a first side surface and an opposing second side surface and a top surface; and (ii) a plurality of first protrusions extending from the base, wherein the plurality of first protrusions are located between the plurality of rails; and (b) a selectively permeable membrane having a first major membrane surface contacting at least the top surface of at least two rails enclosing a flow channel having a height extending between the base of the support sheet and the first major membrane surface, wherein the plurality of protrusions change the height of the flow channel along its length along the longitudinal axis of the flow channel.
Abstract:
Conformable sheet article made from paper and useful, for example, in packaging, tapes, and craft article, and methods of making and using such sheet articles are disclosed.
Abstract:

The abrasive article also has a cured resin composition joined to the laminate opposite the backing substrate. The abrasive article also has abrasive particles joined to the cured resin composition.
Abstract:
A pleated air filter media is provided. The pleated air filter media comprises a plurality of upstream linear bridging filaments that are extrusion-bonded to at least some of a plurality of upstream pleat tips of a fibrous web, and a plurality of downstream continuous -contact filaments that are extrusion-bonded to a downstream face of the fibrous web. Methods of making and using the same are also provided.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to electrode assemblies, membrane-electrode assemblies and electrochemical cells and liquid flow batteries produced therefrom. The electrode and membrane-electrode assemblies include (i) a porous electrode having a first major surface with a first surface area, Ae, an opposed second major surface and a plurality of voids; (ii) a discontinuous transport protection layer, comprising polymer, disposed on the first major surface and having a cross-sectional area, Ap, substantially parallel to the first major surface; and (iii) an interfacial region wherein the interfacial region includes a portion of the polymer embedded in at least a portion of the plurality of voids, a portion of the porous electrode embedded in a portion of the polymer or a combination thereof; and wherein 0.02Ae ≤ Ap ≤ 0.85Ae and the porous electrode and discontinuous transport protection layer form an integral structure. The disclosure further provides methods of making the electrode assemblies and membrane-electrode assemblies.
