Abstract:
A pressure-sensitive adhesive obtained from crosslinking a pre-adhesive composition comprising poly(meth)acrylate macromolecules that comprise a number-average molecular weight of from about 25000 to about 200000.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides an oil-resistant adhesive comprising a crosslinked copolymer of (meth)acrylic ester monomers, methyl (meth)acrylate monomers, vinyl ester monomers, and a functional monomer selected from one of (meth)acrylic acid, a (meth)acrylamide or a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate monomers.
Abstract:
Adhesive articles include a substrate and a hot melt processable pressure sensitive adhesive layer disposed on the substrate. The pressure sensitive adhesive layer is a (meth)acrylate-based polymer that is the cured reaction product of a mixture including a (meth)arylate monomer that is either a branched (meth)acrylate with a total of 10-17 carbon atoms or a mixture of secondary alkyl (meth)acrylate isomers with a total of 8-18 carbon atoms, a non-acid-functional polar monomer, optional acid-functional monomer, a crosslinking moiety, and an initiator. The pressure sensitive adhesive composition can be contained in a packaging material.
Abstract:
Curable precursor compositions for adhesives (e.g., pressure sensitive adhesives) and related articles, assemblies, and methods. The provided compositions contain a mixture comprising 50 to 100 parts by weight of a first polymerizable component, 0 to 50 parts by weight of a second polymerizable component, a transition metal complex soluble in the mixture, and an effective amount of a polymerization initiator, thereby allowing for the formation of high molecular weight polymer with essentially no gel content that can be easily processed via established hot melt techniques (i.e., a hot melt processable adhesive), even in the absence of chain transfer agents or crosslinking agents.
Abstract:
A method of making a silicone gel adhesive is described comprising providing an acrylic polymer, the acrylic polymer comprising at least 50 wt.-% of polymerized units of C1-C32 (meth)acrylate ester monomer; providing at least one non-functional polydiorganosiloxane, hydroxy-functional polydiorganosiloxane, or a mixture thereof; combining the acrylic polymer and polydiorganosiloxane into a mixture; coating the mixture onto a substrate, and subjecting the mixture to radiation thereby crosslinking the mixture. Also described is a silicone gel adhesive comprising a crosslinked material at least one non-functional polydiorganosiloxane, hydroxy-functional polydiorganosiloxane, or a mixture thereof; and an acrylic polymer comprising at least 50 wt.-% of polymerized units of alkyl (meth)acrylate monomers and a gel content of at least 20 wt.-%. Also described is a medical article or intermediate thereof, comprising a layer of the silicone gel adhesive described herein adhered to a substrate; and methods of adhering a medical article.
Abstract:
A method of making an adhesive article is described comprising melt extruding a core film layer comprising a composition comprising at least 50% of a polylactic acid polymer. The method further comprises melt extruding an adhesive layer on a major surface of the core film layer such that regions of interdiffusion are present between the core film layer and adhesive layer. The adhesive layer may comprise C1-C10 (meth)acrylic acid or ester thereof, vinyl acetate, ethylene vinyl acetate, hydrolysed polyvinyl alcohol and combinations thereof. The adhesive layer may also be a pressure sensitive adhesive. The method further comprises melt extruding a release film layer on an opposing major surface of the core film layer. The layers are sequentially extruded or co-extruded and can be uniaxially or biaxially oriented. Articles comprising a core film layer comprising a composition comprising at least 50% of a polylactic acid polymer and an adhesive layer disposed on a major surface of the core layer are also described.
Abstract:
Compositions and films are described comprising a polylactic (PLA) polymer and a copolymer comprising a first moiety comprising a C12-C30 alkyl group and a second moiety that is miscible in the composition. Suitable first moieties include a C12-C30 alkyl (meth)acrylate or a polyvinyl alcohol comprising pendent C12-C30 alkyl groups. Suitable second moieties include C1-C10 (meth)acrylic acid or ester thereof, vinyl acetate and ethylene vinyl acetate. The aforementioned composition may be used to form a release layer of an adhesive article such as a pressure sensitive adhesive tape. The films may be a monolithic film or a film layer of a multilayer film. The release layer may be disposed upon a substrate layer that may also comprise PLA. The films are produced by melt extrusion of the aforementioned composition and may be oriented.
