Abstract: The present disclosure provides an extrudable article and a composition, each including at least one polyurethane including hydroxyl groups and latent isocyanate groups in the form of uretdione groups. The hydroxyl groups are present on a first polyurethane and the latent isocyanate groups are present on either the first polyurethane or a second polyurethane and a ratio of the latent isocyanate groups to the hydroxyl groups is greater than 1.2 : 1. A method of making the extrudable article is provided including reacting in an extruder a polymerizable composition including a uretdione-containing material including a reaction product of a diisocyanate reacted with itself, a hydroxyl-containing compound, and an isocyanate-containing compound. A method of making a core-sheath filament is provided including forming a core composition of the at least one polyurethane and wrapping a sheath composition including an ethylene copolymer or a polyolefin around the core composition. Further, methods of printing a composition are provided including heating and mixing the extrudable article, such as in an extruder, to form a molten composition, then dispensing the molten composition through a nozzle onto a substrate.

Abstract: Dispensed adhesive compositions including a core-sheath filament comprising a non-tacky sheath and an adhesive core comprising a polymer, where the dispensed adhesive composition is a product resulting from compounding the core-sheath filament through a heated extruder nozzle, where the dispensed adhesive composition is substantially free of chemical blowing agent decomposition byproducts or residues, and the dispensed adhesive composition exhibits an average density of less than 0.9 g/cm3 as measured by ASTM D3575-13 Suffix AA-Buoyancy test and peel force of greater than 30 N/cm as measured by ASTM D6862-11 test. Methods of dispensing such adhesive compositions are also disclosed.

Abstract: A core-sheath filament including a crosslinkable adhesive core that can be cured using ultraviolet or visible light radiation. These crosslinkable adhesive core compositions can provide very high bond strength and are capable of replacing traditional mechanical fasteners in many industrial applications. Core-sheath filaments including such crosslinkable compositions, crosslinked compositions, articles containing these compositions, and methods of making the articles are provided. The crosslinkable compositions contain pendant aromatic ketone groups or pendant (meth)acryloyl groups that, upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation, result in the formation of crosslinks within the polymeric material. The crosslinked compositions can function as pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Abstract: A multilayer fluoropolymer film comprising, in order: a first layer comprising a first polymer, the first polymer comprising at least 35 mol percent tetrafluoroethylene comonomer, at least 15 mole percent vinylidene fluoride comonomer, and at least 5 mol percent hexafluoropropylene comonomer, based on the total mol percent of the first polymer; a second layer comprising a second polymer, the second polymer comprising at least 50 mol percent vinylidene fluoride comonomer, based on the total mol percent of the second polymer; and a third layer comprising a third polymer, the third polymer comprising at least 50 mol percent methylmethacrylate comonomer, based on the total mol percent of the third polymer. The multilayer fluoroplymer films are useful for example, in multilayer film applications (e.g., traffic sign protection, commercial graphic protection, paint protection, windows, windshields, building exteriors, and photo voltaics).

Abstract: Provided are amorphous polyolefin compositions that can be dispensed digitally as the core in a core-sheath construction. These formulations provide dependable adhesion to both polar and non-polar surface in addition to providing a high barrier to air and moisture which is beneficial in many applications. These formulations and the method of processing these formulations provide many benefits, including low VOCs, avoiding die cutting, design flexibility, achieving intricate nonplanar bonding patterns, printing on thin and/or delicate substrates, and printing on an irregular and/or complex topography, no need for release liners or low-adhesion backsize, and no need for a post-processing step.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a core-sheath filament. The core-sheath filament includes an adhesive core and a non-tacky sheath, wherein the sheath exhibits a melt flow index of less than 15 grams per 10 minutes. The present disclosure also provides a method of printing an adhesive. The method includes a) melting a core-sheath filament in a nozzle to form a molten composition, and b) dispensing the molten composition through the nozzle onto a substrate. Steps a) and b) are carried out one or more times to form a printed adhesive. The core-sheath filament includes an adhesive core and a non-tacky sheath. Further, methods are provided, including receiving, by a manufacturing device having one or more processors, a digital object comprising data specifying an article; and generating, with the manufacturing device by an additive manufacturing process using a core-sheath filament, the article including a printed adhesive based on the digital object. A system is also provided, including a display that displays a 3D model of an article; and one or more processors that, in response to the 3D model selected by a user, cause a 3D printer to create a physical object of an article including a printed adhesive, using a core-sheath filament.
