    Abstract: PURPOSE: To establish a method by which a chromatographically mobile and visually detectable signals can be generated by passing a sample/indicator solution mixture containing a labeled first reagent and an object to be analyzed through a chromatographic substrate material. CONSTITUTION: A fixed amount of sample to be tested is mixed with an indicator solution composed of a first reagent labeled with colloidal particles under the presence of a chromatographic movement accelerator and the first terminal 14 of a testing device 10 is dipped in the mixture 17 contained in a container 16. The sample/indicator solution mixture containing the labeled first reagent and the object to be analyzed advances to a first zone 13 through a chromatographic substrate material 11. Then the reagent and object are competitively bonded to a second specific binding reagent immobilized to the first zone 13. However, the chromatographic solvent moves so that the object to be analyzed and the material of the first reagent labeled with colloidal particles which are not specifically bonded to the immobilized second reagent can be eliminated from the zone 13 and the movement is continued until the sample/ indicator solution mixture is exhausted.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To determine the presence or amount of a substance to be analyzed in a sample due to a specifical binding reaction by using a chromatograph medium that has capillary phenomenon and can perform the chromatograph medium move of one type or two types or more of a reactive sample constituent and a non-immobilization reagent. CONSTITUTION: A device 10 has a chromatograph medium 13 with a fixed length having a first end 14, a second end 15, and a reaction site 16 and a fixed amount of sample for testing the presence of a substance to be analyzed is added to a sample well 18 adjacent to the first end 14. A sample substance is absorbed into the chromatograph medium 13, begins to flow toward the second end 15, and flows in the reaction site 16. A substance to be analyzed is specifically bound to a reagent at the reaction site 16 and is immobilized at the reaction site 16. A substance that is not to be analyzed flows toward the second end 15 in the chromatograph medium 13 and is absorbed by an absorption substance 19. When the reagent substance contains a labeled substance, the presence of the substance to be analyzed can be detected at the reaction site 16.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To give a mechanical strength to a nitrocellulose film while retaining hydrophilic property by laminating a wet porous film on a support with its side surface using a water-soluble solvent base adhesive. CONSTITUTION: A wet porous film 10 is laminated on a support 14 with at least one its side surface using a water-soluble solvent base adhesive 12 and is brought into contact with a biologically active reagent, thus retaining the activity of the reagent. The porous film 10 preferably consists of nitrocellulose and the adhesive 12 consists of adhesive research AS 73. Also, a surface-active agent, preferably alkyl sulfate or sulfone acid alkyl may be included. Then, the water-based solvent base adhesive 12 is used for laminating one surface or both sides of the film 10. When performing lamination only at one side of the film 10, protein is applied to a specific part 15 on the surface at the opposite side and a fluid is brought into contact from the opposite side, thus giving mechanical strength to the nitrocellulose film while retaining hydrophilic property.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To form a novel assay by employing an application pad containing a diffusive indicator which can migrate from the application pad to a chromatograph substance thereby combining several elements. CONSTITUTION: The equipment for assay employs a chromatograph substance 2 which can cause migration of a liquid, and an application pad 1. The application pad 1 controls the test sample flow to chromatograph substance 2, filter the test sample and mixes an assay reagent. The assay reagent is taken into the application pad 1 and chromatograph substance 2 and produces a detectable signal when an analyte is present. Results of assay can be indicated qualitatively and quantitatively by changing the position on chromatograph substance 2 containing the reagent.
