PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymerizable compound which has large optical (refractive index) anisotropy, exhibits liquid crystal phase at temperatures near to room temperature, and is excellent in solvent solubility, and to provide a polymerizable composition. SOLUTION: This polymerizable compound is represented by formula (1), wherein Z 1 and Z 2 are each (meth)acryloyloxy; X 1 and X 2 are each independently a single bond, a 1-8C alkylene, an ether bond, -COO-, -OCO-, -OCOO-, a six-membered ring which may have one or more substituents, or their combination; R 1 is -R', -OR', -CO-R' or -OCO-R'; R' is a halogen atom, a 1-8C alkyl or a six-membered cyclic which may have one or more substituents; L 1 and L 2 are each independently a single bond, -CH 2 CH 2 -, -CH=CH-, -C≡C-, -CH 2 O-, -OCH 2 -, -COO- or -OCO-; (m) is an integer of 1 to 4; the R 1 groups may be different each other. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel liquid crystal material forming a liquid crystal composition that is low viscous and has highly anisotropic refractive index (Δn), a highly anisotropic dielectric constant (Δε) and a high NI point (wide nematic phase), when mixed with a nematic liquid crystal material. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing agent for a liquid crystal dropping method suitable as a sealing agent for a liquid crystal dropping method characterized by two step curing of photo curing utilizing visible light wherein light having 400 nm wavelength or lower is cut and thermal curing and having low curing temperature, high adhesion strength and low contamination to a liquid crystal. SOLUTION: The sealing agent for the liquid crystal dropping method includes the following components (1), (2), (3) and (4). (1) a curing agent comprising a reaction product obtained by reacting a polyamine having at least one active hydrogen and at least two nitrogen atoms in its molecule and an acid compound, (2) a thermosetting resin, (3) an acyl phosphine-based photo initiator and (4) a photocurable resin.
