    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the whole ultrasonic apparatus smaller as a scanning head by housing an array converter and a beam generator to delay and connect echo signals received by the array converter elements together into a common housing. SOLUTION: Portable ultrasonic apparatus is put in a single unit in which a converter array 10 is connected to a signal sending/receiving application specified integrated circuit(ASIC) 20 to receive echoes received by elements of the array 10, and the echoes received by the signal sending/receiving ASIC 20 are transferred to a front end ASIC 30 to make scan signals from echoes from respective converter element on generating beam. Scan signals with generated beam are transferred to a digital signal processing ASIC 40 to filter scan signals as well as B mode supersonic and Doppler information are sent to a back end ASIC 50 for scan conversion and picture output signal generation, then a frame of the supersonic picture is stored in a picture memory device 54 and displayed on an LCD display device 60.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the mingling of an unnecessary virtual image into Doppler information by making a filter process with a minimum-maximum value filter. SOLUTION: Image clutter is removed from a Doppler signal by a flash suppressing processor for each large frame in a display signal. When the Doppler signal of the new frame Fn is received, it is compared with the value of the previous frame Fn-1 , and the minimum value MIN1 is selected by a minimum value selector 630. It is compared with the previously selected minimum value MIN2 stored in an image buffer A by a maximum value selector 636 to select the maximum value MAX. The minimum-maximum value is subtracted from the Doppler signal value of the frame Fn-1 at that time by a subtractor 638, it is compared with the signal displacement threshold value by a comparator 640. If it is the threshold value or above, the minimum-maximum value is set as the Doppler signal value of the present frame. If it is the threshold value or below, the frame value Fn-1 is set as the Doppler signal value of the present frame. A virtual image can be then removed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable access from a remote place by using hardware and software obtainable at the market, and performing ultrasonic diagnostic image processing by connecting them to a network. SOLUTION: A server 30 of a hypertext transfer protcol(HTTP) is incorporated into an ultrasonic device 10. This HTTP server 30 is used for access to an ultrasonic image and a report in a storage medium 24. Access from a personal computer, a terminal or a work station of a remote place becomes possible to the image and the report of the device 10. The server 30 is connected to the ultrasonic device 10 through a communication network 40 by an electric wire 42 or by wireless 44 by a modem 32. Therefore, a user who gets access can use diagnostic information of the ultrasonic device 10.

    Abstract: A remotely upgradeable medical diagnostic ultrasound system (100) is described which is upgradeable with a new transducer probe (10) by means of air shipment of the upgrade hardware and remote transmission of upgrade data which controls operation of the probe. The ultrasound system includes a data communicator such as a network link (64) or modem (62) for receiving upgrade data from a remote location. A process for upgrading the system is provided whereby a communications link is established over a common carrier communications medium (110,112) between the ultrasound system (100) and a remote terminal, which transmits upgrade program data to the ultrasound system (100). The program data portion of an upgrade is provided via the communications link while the hardware portion of the upgrade is shipped by air freight to the user. In this way, an ultrasound upgrade can be provided to a user from a remote location in a matter of hours.
