Abstract: Partially chlorinated ethers are electrolytically fluorinated in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride. The gas which is produced consequently is passed through water and the aqueous solution of sodium sulfite-sodium hydroxide for the removal of by-products and thereafter cooled and collected. The collected product is a mixture consisting of fluorinated ethers and fluorocarbons. Chlorofluoroethers which the present invention aims to obtain are separated from this mixture by additional treatments of distillation, gas chromatography, etc.

Abstract: Aromatic hydrocarbons which have undergone nuclear substitution with a trifluoromethyl group are electrolytically fluorinated in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride. The mixed gas which is consequently formed is sent through the aqueous solution of sodium sulfite containing therein potassium iodide, thereafter cooled and collected, and subjected to refining treatment such as by trap-to-trap distillation, distillation, or gas chromatography to obtain perfluorocyclohexane derivatives.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for surfactants, agri chemicals, medicines, etc., and a flame retardant additive for halon-based fire extinguishers, transformer oils or electrical insulating oils, X-ray contrast media, etc. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I [Rf and Rf are 1-5C perfluoroalkyl an both may be bound directly or through O or N to form a heterocyclic ring). This compound is obtained by decarboxylating a nitrogen-containing perfluorocarboxylic acid bromide of formula II at -80 to +100 deg.C as necessary, in a solvent (e.g. perfluorohexane) while being irradiated with ultraviolet rays having 250-370nm wavelength by using a light source such as a mercury arc lamp. The compound of formula II is readily available and capable of providing the compound of formula I in good yield and high purity according to simple operation.

CONSTITUTION:The objective nitrogen-containing perfluoroalkyl bromide useful as a synthetic intermediate for fluorine-containing products, a halon-based fire extinguisher, a flame-retarding additive for transformer oil and electrical insulation oil, an X-ray contrasting agent, etc., and expressed by formula II can be produced in high yield by filling a reaction vessel made of a quartz pipe with a nitrogen-containing perfluorocarboxylic acid bromide expressed by formula I (Rf and Rf are 1-5C perfluoroalkyl groups which may be bonded to each other directly or interposing oxygen atom or nitrogen atom therebetween or may form a heterocyclic group together with nitrogen atom bonded to both groups; (n) is integer of 2-8) [e.g. perfluoro(3-dimethylaminopropionyl bromide)-]and decarbonylating the compound under irradiation of ultraviolet ray having a wavelength of 250-370nm in nitrogen atmosphere for 264hr.
