    Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably obtain the titled compound from methanol and/or dimethyl ether in high selectivity for a long period, by using a specific catalyst prepared by modifying an alkaline earth metal-containing aluminoborosilicate with an alkaline earth metal-containing compound. CONSTITUTION:Methanol or ethanol or both in the vapor phase are brought into contact with a catalyst to produce the titled compound. In the process, a modified catalyst prepared by hydrothermal treatment of a raw material satisfying the respective molar ratios as follows; 12-3,000 SiO2/Al2O3, 1-1,000 SiO2/B2O3, 0.02-10 OH /SiO2, 1-2,000 H2O/SiO2 and 0.01-3 tetra propylammonium compound/SiO2 and atomic ratio as follows; 0.03-300 alkaline earth metal/Al at 80-250 deg.C temperature and blending or supporting >=0.25wt% alkaline earth metal expressed in terms of the metal on the resultant fired zeolite having the composition expressed by the formula (M is alkali metal or H; M is alkaline earth metal; a is 0-2; b is 0.1-100; c is 12-3,000; n is 0-30) is used to improve the catalyst life.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:In producing the titled compound in a gaseous phase from methanol and/or dimethyl ether, to obtain the aimed compound stably in high selectively for a long period, by using a alkaline earth metal modified zeolite catalyst containing an alkaline earth metal. CONSTITUTION:The titled compound is advantageously obtained by bringing methanol and/or dimethyl ether into contact in a gaseous phase with a catalyst modified by treating hydrothermally a raw material having a composition satisfying molar ratios of SiO2/Al2O3=10-3,000, OH /SiO2=0.02-10, H2O /SrO2=1-2,000 and tetrabutyl compound/SiO4=0.01-4 and an atomic ratio of alkaline earth metal/Al=0.03-300 at 80-200 deg.C to give a calcined material having a composition shown by the fomrula (M is alkali metal; M is alkaline earth metal; a is 0-2.0; b is 0.1-100; c is 10-3,000; n is 0-30), treating the calcined material with an alkaline earth metan containing compound in a solid state or in solution so that >=0.25wt% calculated as metal of the alkaline earth metal is blended with or supported on zeolite.
