Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extremely small-sized single molecular fine optical device which is easily and stably operable with hardly having a regulating part, and enhance the converging efficiency o/f signal light to realize the accumulation of necessary functions basically with one optical element. SOLUTION: An excited light is emitted to a sample through a cover glass 4, and the signal light from the sample is taken as parallel beams through a rod type lens 1 and sent to a light detector. Tungsten is evaporated on one end surface of the rod type lens 1 (pitch 0,.25) as a thin film 2 of 0.5μm thick, an aperture about 4μm in diameter is formed in the center of the thin film by use of focused ion beam method using divalent gold ion, the cover glass 4 of 0.15μmm thick is put on the aperture to form a sample space 3, and the sample is put in the sample space 3, whereby a single molecular spectrometric device is constituted. When a single mode pigment laser in the wavelength range of 570nm is used as an excitation light source, and the wavelength is scanned to measure the excited spectrum, a single spectrum is provided.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the position of a probe chip in a near-field optical microscope by using a small apparatus and by a simple adjustment by a method wherein laser light for control is transmitted by using an optical fiber so as to be radiated to the probe chip. SOLUTION: In a measuring method, a probe chip 5 which radiates laser light for observation is vibrated at a sample 9, and the distance between the tip of the probe chip 5 and the sample 9 is decided on the basis of the amplitude of the vibration. In addition, an optical fiber 3 is used, laser light, for control, at a prescribed wavelength is transmitted from a semiconductor laser 1 so as to be radiated to the probe chip 5. In addition, by using the interference between reflected light at the end face 3a of the optical fiber 3 and scattered light from the probe chip 5, the position of the probe chip 5 from the end face 3a of the optical fiber 3 is measured in a noncontact manner. In this manner, an optical part which is composed of the semiconductor laser 1 and the like and an interference part are separated, and both parts are coupled by the optical fiber 3. Thereby, the respective parts can be separated and arranged under separate environments.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an infinitestimal microscope spectroscopic apparatus which is simple, in which few adjusting parts are provided, which is operated stably and which is extremely small. SOLUTION: An infinitestimal microscope spectroscopic apparatus is an optical apparatus which measures a spectrum on the basis of the emission spectroscopic operation, the scattering spectroscopic operation or the like of an infinitestimal structure such as a single molecule, a single quantum point/quantum line, a cluster/an association body or the like as a sample 3 to be measured. In the optical apparatus, a rod-shaped lens 1 having an inclined refractive-index distribution is used as a signal-light condensing optical system, the end face, on one side, of the rod-shaped lens 1 is used as a transparent substrate on which the sample 3 to be measured is placed, and laser light is made incident on the other end of the rod-shaped lens 1 so as to be condensed on the end face, on one side, of the rod-shaped lens 1. When the laser light for excitation is made incident from the face of the rod-shaped lens 1 which is used directly as the substrate for the sample 3 and from the end face on the opposite side, and a beam waist region in which the light is condensed in the boundary region between the sample 3 and the end face is used as a very small space.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the dielectric constant in the tetrahertz area of a nonlinear optical crystal with a specific equation without using an optical system for far infrared rays by introducing the dielectric constant in the tetrahertz area from the transient response induced by pulses of ultra-short visible light. SOLUTION: The response of a sample is observed by the transient diffraction grating method. A well-known optical system used by the grating method can be used for the optical system. When two ultra-short light pulses are crossed in the sample, the sample is excited in a spatially periodic structure. When another ultra-short light pulse is fed, it is diffracted by the grating. The intensity of the diffracted light is recorded while the incidence time of this ultra-short light pulse is changed through a delay optical path, and the aging effect (responsiveness) of the grating is outputted. Such a vibration wave-form b(t) is determined that the square b(t) of its responsiveness reproduces the observed vibration component. The vibration wave-form b(t) is Fourier-transformed into b(ω). When b(ω) is substituted in the left side of the equation (1), the frequency dependency ε(ω) of the dielectric constant is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To record information in high density at high speed by forming a cyclodextrine derivative having both of hydrophilic and hydrophobic structures in a state of clathrating a photoisomer into an ultrathin film and laminating said films in high density. CONSTITUTION:The guest molecule is the photoisomer molecule having a dimension adapted to the hydrophobic hole of the host molecule and this host molecule for forming a maxtrix to be used is the cyclodextrine derivative having both hydrophilic and hydrophobic structures and represented by formula I in which X is OH, methoxy, acyl, or the like; Y is amino, amido, or the like; R is a hydrophobic group; and (n) is an integer of >= 6. The photoisomer in a recording layer is clathrated in the molecule of the cyclodextrine derivative and oriented in molecular high precision, thus permitting each guest molecule to be separated from each other by clathration, not to associate with each other, even if its density is raised, excitation energy not to transfer, and therefore, deterioration of sensitivity to be restrained, writing in an reading out at high sped to be executed, consequently, multiplex recording degree to be enhanced without interference from adjacent holes, and stable high-density memory to be reproduced.
