    Abstract: An electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface receives notification(s) while the device is in a screen-off state. After receiving the notification(s), the device detects an input for waking the device to a screen-on state. In response, the device transitions to the screen-on state and displays the notification(s) on a wake screen user interface. The device further detects another input for dismissing the wake screen user interface and ceases to display the wake screen user interface. Afterwards, the device detects a third input for redisplaying the wake screen user interface. In response, upon determining that the third input meets notification-clearance criteria, the device redisplays the wake screen user interface without displaying at least one of the notification(s); and upon determining that the third input does not meet the notification-clearance criteria: the device redisplays the wake screen user interface and redisplays at least one of notification(s).

    Abstract: An electronic device displays, on a display, a user interface that includes first and second interactive regions of an application. While displaying the user interface, the device detects an input by a contact on the touch-sensitive surface at a location that corresponds to a user interface element in the first interactive region on the display. In response to detecting the input by the contact, when the input meets intensity-based activation criteria (e.g., the contact has a characteristic intensity above an intensity threshold), the device obscures the first interactive region of the application with the exception of the user interface element without obscuring the second interactive region of the application. When the input meets selection criteria (e.g., the contact has a characteristic intensity below the intensity threshold), the device performs a selection operation that corresponds to the user interface element without obscuring the first interactive region of the application.
