Abstract:
Embodiments described herein relate to managing access to 5G cellular baseband resources for 5G-capable wireless devices. A wireless device can monitor application workloads by analyzing communication network performance requirements for a given application in-use or launching for future use along with system-level indications of overall device usage, battery level, and mobility status to determine whether access to 5G cellular baseband resources is recommended for an application. A 5G cellular baseband resource recommendation is provided for an application indicating a level of bandwidth in current use or expected for future use as well as a confidence metric in the bandwidth level indication. The 5G cellular baseband resource recommendation is used with additional device criteria to determine whether access to one or more 5G radio frequency bands is allowed.
Abstract:
A method for delaying network reselection by a wireless communication device following a call failure is provided. The method can include determining an initiation of a voice call while connected to a first network. The method can further include participating in a circuit switched fallback (CSFB) procedure to transition from the first network to a second network in response to initiation of the voice call. The method can additionally include determining an occurrence of a call failure of the voice call. The method can also include, responsive to the call failure, barring reselection to the first network for a threshold barring period.
Abstract:
Techniques for flexible electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) deployment to a wireless device by a network server, including generation of multiple eSIMs using an identical eSIM identifier value, such as an identical integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID) value, and subsequent selection of an eSIM based on capabilities of the wireless device. Multiple eSIMs that correspond to different sets of wireless device capabilities are generated without knowledge of the wireless communication standards that a wireless device supports. The multiple eSIMs include a first eSIM that includes fifth generation (5G) wireless communication protocol information and a second eSIM that excludes 5G wireless communication protocol information. The network server selects an eSIM from the multiple eSIMs based on whether the wireless device is 5G capable. After selection and binding of a profile package that includes the eSIM, the remaining eSIMs that use the identical ICCID value are deleted, for security enforcement against cloning.
Abstract:
A policy-based framework is described. This policy-based framework may be used to specify the privileges for logical entities to perform operations associated with an access-control element (such as an electronic Subscriber Identity Module) located within a secure element in an electronic device. Note that different logical entities may have different privileges for different operations associated with the same or different access-control elements. Moreover, the policy-based framework may specify types of credentials that are used by the logical entities during authentication, so that different types of credentials may be used for different operations and/or by different logical entities. Furthermore, the policy-based framework may specify the security protocols and security levels that are used by the logical entities during authentication, so that different security protocols and security levels may be used for different operations and/or by different logical entities.
Abstract:
Some embodiments relate to methods for provisioning a secondary wireless device with an eSIM for wireless communication and activating multi-SIM functionality between the secondary wireless device and a primary wireless device having a subscribed SIM. The primary wireless device may act as a proxy in obtaining the eSIM for the secondary wireless device. The primary wireless device may then provide, to the cellular network, identifiers of the SIMs of the primary and secondary wireless devices. The primary wireless device may then request initiation of multi-SIM functionality for the two SIMs, and receive an indication that the multi-SIM functionality has been initiated. As an example, the multi-SIM functionality may be implemented by mapping the SIM of the primary wireless device and the SIM of the secondary wireless device (e.g., the provisioned eSIM) to the same Mobile Directory Number (MDN).
Abstract:
An automated environment can include an accessory device that operates according to an automation rule, to take a prescribed action when a triggering condition occurs. A controller device for the automated environment can determine a user's regular routine and can detect when the user is deviating from the regular routine. The controller device can communicate with accessory devices in the automated environment to modify their behavior relative to the automation rules.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for managing and sharing data across multiple access control clients in devices are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the access control clients comprise electronic Subscriber Identity Modules (eSIMs) disposed on an embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card (eUICC). Each eSIM contains its own data. An Advanced Subscriber Identity Toolkit application maintained within the eUICC facilitates managing and sharing multiple eSIMs' data for various purposes such as sharing phonebook contacts or facilitating automatic switch-over between the multiple eSIMs (such as based on user context).
Abstract:
The subject technology extracts features from each log line of a log file. The subject technology determines, based on the features, a sequence of log lines. The subject technology determines probabilities of log lines occurring within a window of time from a respective log line from the sequence of log lines, and determines probabilities of periods of time within the window of time that a next log line will occur after the respective log line. The subject technology segments log lines from the log file into sequences of log lines based on the probabilities of the set of log lines occurring within the window of time and the probabilities of periods of time that the next log line occurs after the respective log line. The subject technology determines a predicted subsequent log line, and detects an anomaly when an actual subsequent log line differs from the predicted subsequent log line.
Abstract:
Representative embodiments described herein set forth techniques for optimizing large-scale deliveries of electronic Subscriber Identity Modules (eSIMs) to mobile devices. Specifically, instead of generating and assigning eSIMs when mobile devices are being activated-which can require significant processing overhead-eSIMs are pre-generated with a basic set of information, and are later-assigned to the mobile devices when they are activated. This can provide considerable benefits over conventional approaches that involve generating and assigning eSIMs during mobile device activation, especially when new mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, etc.) are being launched and a large number of eSIM assignment requests are to be fulfilled in an efficient manner.
Abstract:
Embodiments are described for identifying and accessing an electronic subscriber identity module (eSIM) and associated content of the eSIM in a multiple eSIM configuration. An embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card (eUICC) can include multiple eSIMs, where each eSIM can include its own file structures and applications. Some embodiments include a processor of a mobile device transmitting a special command to the eUICC, including an identification that uniquely identifies an eSIM in the eUICC. After selecting the eSIM, the processor can access file structures and applications of the selected eSIM. The processor can then use existing commands to access content in the selected eSIM. The special command can direct the eUICC to activate or deactivate content associated with the selected eSIM. Other embodiments include an eUICC platform operating system interacting with eSIMs associated with logical channels to facilitate identification and access to file structures and applications of the eSIMs.
