The rest being iron and impurities resulting from preparation, a chemical composition being adjusted in such a way that mean values J 3m , J 11m , J 15m et J 25m of five Jominy tests are such as a = | J 11m - J 3m x 14/22 - J 25m x 8/22 |= 2.5 HRC; and ß = J 3m - J 15m = 9 HRC.
