Abstract:
An assembly for a consumer product, such as a wristwatch or other wearable electronic device, can securely retain a cover member against a housing of the product. A retaining member from within the housing can engage and secure the cover member to provide a fluid barrier. The cover member can include a window or other components of a sensor device. The parts can be easily disassembled without causing permanent damage.
Abstract:
An auxiliary electronic device (400), such as a portable battery pack, attachable to a wearable electronic device (100), such as a smartwatch. The auxiliary device (400) includes a housing (402), electronic circuitry within the housing (402), and an attachment mechanism configured to attach the auxiliary electronic device (400) to the wearable device (100) while the device (100) is being worn by a user. In some embodiments the electronic circuitry includes a power transmitting unit (806) that can wirelessly transmit power to charge a rechargeable battery within the wearable electronic device (100). In some embodiments the attachment mechanism includes a pair of lugs (406a, 406b) that extend, from opposite ends of the housing (402), above the housing (402) towards a center of the auxiliary device (400) and are adapted to fit within corresponding recesses (114a, 114b) of the wearable electronic device (100).
Abstract:
This application relates to a battery system for reducing spacing between components in an electronic device. The battery system includes a housing surrounding an electrode assembly and a connection module. The housing is rigid or semi-rigid and connected to a common ground. The battery system can be positioned in the electronic device to contact components without damaging the components. In some embodiments, the battery system can be used as a structural element in the electronic component.
Abstract:
A wristwatch (10), comprising a flexible display layer (42) having a planar central portion and a bent edge that is bent relative to the planar central portion, wherein the flexible display layer (42) has an array of pixels (44) that extends onto the bent edge. The wristwatch (10) also comprises a display cover layer (40) that overlaps the flexible display layer (42), wherein the display cover layer (40) has a curved edge that overlaps the bent edge of the flexible display layer (42).
Abstract:
An electronic device display and a display cover layer may be coupled to a housing. The display may have an array of pixels that are configured to emit light. One or more light redirecting elements may be incorporated into the electronic device that redirect and thereby change the direction of light rays emitted from peripheral pixels in the display. The light redirecting elements may be used to enlarge the effective size of the display, to create images on sidewall surfaces of the display cover layer, and/or to create diffuse glowing areas around the periphery of the device. Light redirecting elements may be formed as integral portions of a display cover layer, as laminated optical films on a display cover layer, or as coating layers on a display cover layer. Afocal optical systems may be formed by placing first and second light redirecting elements on opposing first and second sides of a display cover layer.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject technology relate to electronic devices with antennas. The antenna may be a display-integrated antenna. An antenna feed for the antenna may be located in a recess in a sidewall of a housing of the device. The antenna feed may be coupled to transceiver circuitry on a logic board of the device by a pair of flex circuits. A first one of the pair of flex circuits may form a portion of an antenna feed assembly. A second one of the pair of flex circuits may be an impedance-matching flex having an end that is soldered to the main logic board. The antenna may be coupled to a conductive portion of the housing of the device.
